Feel the Summer
Stroke 9 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Feel the summer approaching on the wind like a forest fire
And although I want it here the Spring looks like a lonely liar
All the new life that sprung from the cold Winter last year
Everything that's over with replaced by all these different fears
And I will embrace them with wide eyes

Chorus:
Now I must tell you goodbye
And live with everything that I
Have done 'til now and hope for the best, goodbye.

Everything I thought I was it's time to put it all aside
I told myself that I was going to try to change I guess I lied
Now I'm in a different place where I can finally think
Do I need to explain myself or do I need another drink
Now I will embrace this place in time

(Chorus)

Although it hurts it's times like these that make life worth living
So please help me understand that nothing ever goes as planned
So I can turn it around again

I smell the Winter approaching in the air like an avalanche
I don't really want it here but this could be my only chance
A chance to take a new approach
To try a different way
Before everything else is gone there's not much more for me to say so...

Now I must tell you goodbye

And live with everything that I
Have done 'til now and hope for the best, goodbye.

Overall Meaning

The song "Feel the Summer" by Stroke 9 is a reflection on the changing of seasons, and perhaps a metaphor for the passage of time and personal growth. The lyrics describe the approach of summer with a sense of anticipation, but also a degree of hesitancy and uncertainty. The singer is aware that with the passing of one season comes the end of another, and with that, the loss of certain things. Yet, he embraces the inevitable changes, willing to face the unknown with open eyes. The chorus introduces a sense of finality, implying that the singer must say goodbye to parts of his past and accept what he has done up until this point. However, he also expresses the hope for something better in the future.

Throughout the song, there is a struggle with self-understanding and identity. The singer recognizes that it is time to put aside his preconceived notions of himself and try to change, even though he feels like he may have failed himself. He is in a new place in his life where he can think more clearly and is presented with a chance to try a different approach. The final lines suggest that there is not much else to be said, implying a sense of acceptance and closure.

Overall, "Feel the Summer" presents a poignant reflection on the passage of time and the importance of embracing change, even if it feels uncomfortable or uncertain. It is a thought-provoking and insightful take on a familiar theme, delivered through Stroke 9's signature blend of rock and pop influences.

Absolutely agree with you guys! They have been at this for almost 25years, and although I wish they had the success they deserve I am glad that even though they haven't gone commercial and top 40 they still continue to make great music!

Shir Ben Meir

i can't believe no one heard of them! they're my favorite band for years...

Tom Guerrero

I'm glad they're underrated though. I'd hate to hear stroke nine on the radio every damn five minutes. Music this good deserves it's exclusivity.

Rok Medved

they're too good to be unheard...

I'm glad that I found this band. I'm not sure if I'll put their music on my iPod, though. It's not for the reason you'd think. There is some music that I love but don't have on my iPod because I know I'll overplay it until I ruin myself for it. There are some bands that I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing. But then 5 months later I have no interest in listening to them unless I'm only half listening to my iPod while I'm reading. My point is, these guys are good.
