Goodness Gracious is a self-produced affair, written, recorded and mixed by Sowersby in his home studio before being mastered by John Lee (Laura Jean, Lost Animal, Totally Mild) at Phaedra Studios. Sonically, Goodness Gracious trades in Wondererβs experimental headphone psychedelia for something at once more intimate and expansive, full to the brim with chiming guitars, glittering loops and warped, cinematic strings.
Sowersby says of Goodness Gracious: βI began working on this album in an exploratory way, recording for recordingβs sake until an album began to naturally take form. Along the way I found some sounds that it feels like Iβve been hearing in my head for years. The result is 11 songs that document a period of change, about what we look to for guidance, comfort and stability in uncertain timesβ

What can I tell you
Oh m'love
What can I do
To show my love
Show it to you
Oh m'love
I'm too small to reach you
Please tell me why I slept with you
Oh m'love
What can I show you
Oh m'love
How can I show you
Oh m'love
How can I show you
Oh m'love
Oh m'love
What can I tell you
Oh m'love
What can I do
Please tell me why I'm waiting here
Oh m'love
How can I show you
Oh m'love
How can I show you
Oh m'love
How can I show you
Oh m'love
Show me how to show you how I love you
Lets talk about [?]
I wanna show you all the things I promised
All I want is to call you just [?]
The lyrics of "M'Love" by Sunbeam Sound Machine tell a story of unrequited love and the struggles of a person who is feeling overwhelmed and powerless in expressing their emotions. The repetition of "Oh m'love" throughout the song emphasizes the sense of longing and affection. In the first verse, the singer is asking for guidance on how to show their love to the person they are addressing. Despite their willingness to express their feelings, the singer feels "too small" to reach the person they love, suggesting a power dynamic or perhaps a social status gap.
In the second verse, the singer reveals that they slept with the person they love, but they don't understand the reason behind their actions. The confusion and frustration are palpable, demonstrated by the repetition of the plea for an explanation. In the final verse, the singer is still waiting for the person they love, feeling powerless and uncertain about how to win them over. However, the final line of the song, "Show me how to show you how I love you," suggests a willingness to learn and grow in their love for this person.
Overall, "M'Love" is a poignant song that captures the highs and lows of love, particularly the vulnerability and uncertainty that can accompany feelings of deep affection.
