Goodness Gracious is a self-produced affair, written, recorded and mixed by Sowersby in his home studio before being mastered by John Lee (Laura Jean, Lost Animal, Totally Mild) at Phaedra Studios. Sonically, Goodness Gracious trades in Wonderer’s experimental headphone psychedelia for something at once more intimate and expansive, full to the brim with chiming guitars, glittering loops and warped, cinematic strings.
Sowersby says of Goodness Gracious: “I began working on this album in an exploratory way, recording for recording’s sake until an album began to naturally take form. Along the way I found some sounds that it feels like I’ve been hearing in my head for years. The result is 11 songs that document a period of change, about what we look to for guidance, comfort and stability in uncertain times”

This could be what real life feels like
Nothing ever ever slows down
And every way you ever go now is the one
Found yourself alive on this side
Now you know what real life feels like
No more shall you wait until you're alive
In Sunbeam Sound Machine's song "Real Life," the lyrics depict the feeling of being fully present and alive in the moment. The opening lines, "Find yourself alive on this side, this could be what real life feels like," suggest a newfound awareness and appreciation for the beauty and intensity of existence. It implies a shift towards an awakened state of being, where the mundanity of everyday life is transcended. The repetition of the phrase "real life" emphasizes the yearning to experience a deeper level of existence, beyond the superficial and routine.
The lyrics also highlight the idea that time seems to accelerate when one is fully engaged in their surroundings. The line, "Nothing ever ever slows down," suggests that when one is immersed in the present moment, it feels as though time is flying by, emphasizing the fleeting nature of life. The lyrics further emphasize the idea of embracing life and taking action instead of waiting around passively. It encourages the listener to seize the day and not wait for some future moment to start truly living.
Overall, "Real Life" portrays a sense of awakening to the beauty of existence, the rapid pace of time, and the importance of seizing the present moment to fully experience life.
