Watch Out for the Lord
Superheroes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Watch out for the lord
when he get's mad cos'
he'll take everybody
into the dark
Be aware of the king cos'
he'll take everybody to his hell
where he belongs
Watch out for the lord
when he get's mad cos'
he'll take everybody into the dark
Be aware of the king cos'
he'll take everybody to his hell
where he belongs
Be aware of the darkness,
I promise you if we can stand together
The sun will once again be the day
and the darkness will be the night

So I suggest that

we could take each others hands
and make love again

Overall Meaning

In this song, the lyrics caution listeners to be wary of an entity referred to as "the lord" or "the king" when they become angry. The lyrics imply that this figure possesses the power to lead everyone into a metaphorical darkness or hell. The idea being conveyed is that this figure has the ability to exert control and sway people towards negative and destructive situations.

The repetition of the phrase "watch out for the lord" emphasizes the importance of being cautious and aware of the consequences when this figure becomes enraged. The lyrics suggest that the lord's anger has the potential to affect everyone, implying that no one is exempt from its impact. Similarly, the mention of the king also reinforces the idea of authority and control, and the potential for this figure to lead people towards their own personal "hell".

In the third and fourth paragraphs, the lyrics shift the focus to a more hopeful tone. They urge listeners to be aware of the darkness surrounding them, but also offer a glimmer of optimism. The singer promises that if people can come together and unite, they can overcome the darkness. The reference to the sun symbolizes light and positivity, while the darkness represents negativity and despair. The lyrics suggest that by joining forces, individuals can bring light back into their lives and turn the darkness into a temporary state.

Finally, the song concludes with an invitation to connect with one another and "make love again." This line can be interpreted metaphorically, expressing the desire for unity, compassion, and understanding among people. It encourages listeners to come together, support each other, and rebuild relationships that may have been affected by the influence of the lord or king. It highlights the power of love and connection as a means to combat the darkness and find hope.

Can't speak for anybody else but that 1978 one, that wasn't Superman, that was a Kal El/Christopher Reeve flex! Every single one of the guys who played Superman up to that point, they didn't appear real. There were just too boy-scouty!
Reeve brought out the human Superman.
I will always compare it to the reaction when Zod terrorises Martha looking for the Kryptonian Codex and Cavil spears him through a grain silo.
Yes, the fella's roar for that scene, but they are completely drowned out by the women when Big Blue goes Nuclear-Mama's-boy on Zod yelling, 'you think you can threaten my mother!' The look on Zod's face is priceless!

For me, Thor's God Mode moment came after he acquired the Stormbreaker. When Thor unlocked his lightning powers when fighting his sister in Ragnarok, it was more of a survival trigger because he was getting seriously smashed. Thor can take any life-ending beating from anyone, and still make friends with that person after. Thor is perhaps the strongest of all the Avengers physically. His softest spot is his emotions. In Avengers Infinity War, when Thor landed in Wakanda with his new axe, the God of Thunder was really out for blood. Thanos had killed his brother and his best friend and destroyed his home. That landing scene and the way he took on Thor's army was God Mode for me. And then he overpowered the blast from all the six Infinity Stones combined to slice his axe into the chest of Thanos. That moment was Beast God Mode.
