After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.
20 Million Things

I've got lots of experience
Rent gets spent
And all the letters never written don't get sent
It comes from confusion, all things I left undone
It comes from moment to moment, day to day
Time seems to slip away
And all I can do, is think about you
With twenty million things to do
I've got mysterious wisteria hanging in the air
The rocking chair I was supposed to fix
Well it came undid
And all the things that I let slip, I found out quick
It comes from moment to moment, day to day
Time seems to slip away
But I've got twenty million things to do, twenty million things
And all I can do, is think about you
With twenty million things to do
And all I can do, is think about you
With twenty million things to do
In Suzy Bogguss's song "20 Million Things," the vocalist talks about her busy schedule and her difficulty in getting her life in order while thinking about someone special. The opening line, "If it's fix a fence, fender dents, I've got lots of experience," speaks to the everyday tasks in life that never seem to end. The singer has a lot on her plate and is struggling to balance everything. Rent money is due, letters need to be sent, and a rocking chair needs fixing. All the while, the singer is daydreaming about someone she cares about. She feels overwhelmed and trapped in her routine, yet she can't help but waste time daydreaming.
The singer's frustration comes from a feeling that she has neglected essential things in her life. She can't quite figure out why she is struggling to get things done, but she knows it has to do with moments she has let slip away. The song's bridge, "It comes from confusion, all things I left undone," speaks to this notion of missed opportunities. She realizes that "Time seems to slip away," and she can't seem to catch a break.
Overall, "20 Million Things" presents a universal theme that everyone can relate to, which is, we all have busy lives, and it's a struggle to balance out priorities. Despite our busy schedules, our thoughts can't help but wander to people we love and we oftentimes miss out on the simple moments.
