After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.

Don't want to see you in my dreams anymore
Don't need to hear your doing fine
Baby I'm sure
Don't want to call you on the phone
Don't want to hear you being kind to me
I'll either make it or I won't
I never meant to be your fool
What can I do,I know it hurts you too
I wasn't careful at the start
Me with my dreams you with your change of heart
Don't want to look into your eyes
Don't want to see the way it might have been
You think I can't see gentle lies
But baby I can
I never meant to be your fool
What can I do,I know it hurts you too
I wasn't careful at the start
Me with my dreams you with your change of heart
Don't want to spend another night
Alone and swearing that I'll take control
I'm workin' overtime to hide
What you already know
The lyrics of Suzy Bogguss's song Don't Wanna convey a sense of heartbreak and longing for closure. In the first verse, the singer expresses a desire to move on from a past lover and no longer feel their presence in their heart or dreams. They don't want to know how the person is doing because they are sure that it will only hurt them further. The second verse highlights the singer's determination to cut ties with their past lover by not reaching out to them anymore. They acknowledge that they might not be able to make it on their own but are willing to take the risk.
The chorus of the song delves into the guilt the singer feels for hurting their former partner unintentionally. They acknowledge that they were not careful at the beginning of their relationship and did not realize how their actions might have hurt the other person. The phrase "me with my dreams you with your change of heart" conveys the different expectations that each person had and how they ultimately led to the relationship's failure.
In the final verse, the singer accepts that they cannot change the past and chooses to avoid thinking about what could have been. They understand that their former partner may have lied to them but doesn't want to dwell on it. The last line of the song highlights the singer's struggle to move on and their unwillingness to confront their emotions, but they know deep down that their ex-partner already knows how much they are hurting.
