It Was You
Syd Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Work got out at midnight
I drove home while the snow fell through the headlights
I could have sat here by the fire
Watched the TV, had a drink and turned out all the lights
But it was you I felt like talking to

This is Vermont calling Boston
Come on up here babe, you'll get a brand new start
By now I have got not idea what went wrong
Or where it fell apart
All I know's it's you I felt like talking to

That it's just you I felt like talking to
That it's just you I felt like talking to
That it's just you I felt like talking to
That it's just you I felt like talking to
That it's just you I felt like talking to

Our entire conversation
I will hold my breath and hope it goes alright
Because I've got to sleep a little
Got to make it through to the daylight

Because it's you
Because it's you
Because it's you
Because it's you
Because it's you
All I know's it's you

Because it's you
You

I like the song. It's abstract with the trap like beat that has a lot going on with it and the softness/smoothness of her voice that's nice and simple.

What I find kind of interesting about everyone in Odd Future is that the older they got, the more seriously they took their music.

Can't be kids forever. And I'm actually very much in favor of this. Earl is regarded as one of the best lyricists of our day, Tyler is finally being looked at as a TRUE artist and not a joker, Frank is consistently putting out some of the greatest Alternative R&B material ever made, Domo is branching out into various styles, and Syd is coming to make her mark as well. The Internet has always been a tight group, and "Ego Death" is an amazing album, but I'm glad Syd is trying to make a name for herself away from OF and The Internet.
