A little history I found.

Spin Magazine, October 1996
"After a tough week at the UPS office and the printing plant, Dallas brothers Deryl and Stan Dorsett spend all Sunday at home stretched out over their electronic kits, letting up only for an occasional glance at the Cowboys game. Under the name Symbiosis, these military brats have released a debut Clandestine Electronic Subculture (Domestic), that's as melancholy as the Louvin Brothers and as funky as the Brothers Johnson, recasting space travel as one part vision quest, one part dance contest."

@SailfishSoundSystem

Thanks. Love these guys.

@hoon4tw

@theonegift They were known as the Dorsett Brothers. I have no idea what happened to them. The only way I ever discovered Symbiosis is through a DJ I found on a message board in like 1999. He was in the US South West and he revered them. He sent me their first two CD's by mail and a few of his mix CD's which were also awesome but I never heard from the guy after that. But that package of CD's changed my life. THIS is the music that changes you. I wish it wasn't so concentrated into an obscure group. Where are you now Symbiosis? =| We need you.

@ProjectPhenix

I looked them up a few years ago, found one on facebook and chatted a bit, they both quit making music sadly. I scored some cds from them as well and had all the 12"s

@vinnie97

magical track...oh, the 90s, how they are missed, as well as Symbiosis themselves.

@lshatok

Symbiosis blew me away the first time I heard them.

@dopedragon re:samples Wish I knew! Particularly from Oneiric's mix, about television being a dream machine ("We need to take that back, our dreams are our own; each of us is a dream machine"). One thing that always impressed me about Symbiosis was their talent for using samples so obscure that a) no one else used them before or since and b) it's a challenge to even audiophile geeks like myself just to track them up. If anyone knows the source for the sample I mentioned, it would really rock.

@dopedragon

one of my most treasured 12"s ever. used to play it out as much as i could. gonna have to dig it out and up the other 2 mixes. anyone know where the vocal samples are from??
