Feel Good
T.O.F. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Something about it makes me feel so fine
Like being condescending all the time
Give me a soapbox
And I'll speak my mind
Being vegan feels so good
Yeah
I got a lunchbox full of vegan food
The cafeteria's where I get rude
I'll school you on the facts
With attitude
Being vegan feels so good
Yeah
Being vegan feels so good
Being vegan feels so good
They all tried to stop me
But nobody could
Being vegan feels so good
Yeah
Being vegan feels so good
Being vegan feels so good
Tried to convert them
But nobody would

And we're still alive
But you fade away

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to T.O.F.'s song "Feel Good" convey a sense of self-righteousness and confidence that comes with embracing a vegan lifestyle. The opening lines, "Something about it makes me feel so fine, Like being condescending all the time" suggest that the singer finds satisfaction in their superior choices and looks down on others who don't share their beliefs. The reference to a "soapbox" and speaking their mind implies that they are not afraid to voice their opinions and educate others on the benefits of veganism.

The lyrics continue with the mention of a lunchbox full of vegan food, indicating that the singer takes pride in their conscientious dietary choices. The line, "The cafeteria's where I get rude, I'll school you on the facts with attitude" suggests that the singer may engage in confrontational conversations or debates about veganism, using their knowledge to try and persuade others to adopt the same lifestyle.

The repetition of the chorus, "Being vegan feels so good, They all tried to stop me, But nobody could" emphasizes the singer's conviction and resilience in the face of opposition. By stating that being vegan feels good, they are expressing a sense of personal fulfillment and satisfaction with their choices. The final lines, "Tried to convert them, But nobody would, And we're still alive, But you fade away" suggest that while the singer may have tried to influence others, they ultimately accept that not everyone will embrace veganism, and that their commitment to the lifestyle will outlast the influence of others.

Overall, the lyrics to "Feel Good" showcase the singer's confidence, self-righteousness, and determination to promote the benefits of veganism, while also acknowledging the reality that not everyone will follow suit.

I saw QOTSA play at The National in Richmond VA (as part of the "...Like Clockwork" Tour) and when they played this song they switched all the lights off in the venue...then whenever Josh said CO-CO-CO-CO-COCAINE! a bunch of blinding white strobe lights flashed - holy crap, what an amazing show and adding that effect made seeing them live that much more of an awesome experience. Josh Homme added "I want it all..I want it all...I want it all....I want...Richmond...." to the end (after the final "nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, ecstasy and alcohol" verse) and the crowd went absolutely nuts.

You could tell that most of the crowd was on something when the strobe lights popped - still, an excellent show in an intimate venue. Josh Homme is a badass.

The references are very subtle so you might not be able to tell, but this song is actually about drugs.
