Predetermined Machine

Till it's grey and old
With no leg to stand on a switch in the dark
Feel our way in the dome
The system throws a glow
And it's anglerfish will guide you home
I don't think they know
Holding the trend that dims
Before dried out eyes the modem it spins it
Sends us anti-clockwise
Banging on a steel temple
We disassemble the truth
Falling off an even level
We pre-program the youth unwilling to see
Limited capacity in our memories
Until the city burns
We live forever in captivity
I don't think they know
Running from the machine
The laser beam make me nervous
I'm gonna ride this circuit to the surface
Running from the machine
The laser beam make me nervous
I'm gonna ride this circuit to the surface
Running from the machine
The laser beam make me nervous
I'm gonna ride this circuit to the surface
Running from the machine
The laser beam make me nervous
I'm gonna ride this circuit to the surface
She's gonna get ya she's gonna get ya
The lyrics of "Predetermined Machine" by Troy Kingi & the Galactic Chiropractors can be interpreted as a commentary on the influence of technology and the predetermined nature of society. The first verse describes a machine that follows a set code until it becomes old and obsolete. It operates blindly, guided by an "anglerfish," which can be seen as a symbol of deception or manipulation. The line "I don't think they know" suggests that people may not realize the extent to which they are controlled by this predetermined system.
The second verse talks about the trends that fade away before our eyes, symbolized by a spinning modem. It criticizes how we are sent in an anti-clockwise direction, implying a deviation from natural order. The line "Banging on a steel temple, we disassemble the truth" suggests that we are trying to break free from the limitations imposed by the system and discover the truth. However, our efforts only lead to falling off an even level, symbolizing our inability to escape. The pre-programming of the youth and our limited memories contribute to our captivity within this system.
The chorus echoes the sentiment of running away from the machine, as the laser beam makes the singer nervous. They express a desire to break free from this system and rise to the surface. The repetition of these lines emphasizes a sense of urgency and determination. The final line, "She's gonna get ya," could be a warning about the system's power to capture and control individuals.
Overall, the song "Predetermined Machine" conveys a critical view of the predetermined nature of our society, influenced by technology and societal structures. It urges listeners to question and resist the system in order to find liberation.
