Hidden In The Sand
Tally Hall Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We were playing in the sand
And you found a little band
You told me you fell in love with it
Hadn't gone as I planned

When you had to bid adieu
Said you'd never love anew
I wondered if I could hold it
and fall in love with it too

You told me buy a pony
But all I wanted was you

Overall Meaning

The song "Hidden in the Sand" by Tally Hall is a love song about two people who were once playing in the sand together. While playing in the sand, one of them found a little band and the other fell in love with it. However, things did not go as planned and the person had to leave. The other person wondered if they could hold onto the band and fall in love with it as well. The song talks about the sadness of saying goodbye, the hope for new love, and the struggle of holding onto something that reminds one of a lost love.

The lyrics of the song demonstrate the complex emotions that come with falling in love and losing it. The use of the sand as a metaphor for the temporary nature of things is powerful. The sand shifts and moves, just like love can be fleeting. The band becomes a symbol of the love that once was and the hope for a new love. The singer is torn between holding onto the past and moving forward with the future. Ultimately, the song is about the hope that love will find a way, even when things don't go as planned.

i take pleasure correcting you not because I enjoy proving you wrong, but it makes me so happy to share with you the good of humans. There will always be some people who show their true colors when disaster strikes. People are selfish but more often than not for the good of a loved one. Humans, in real life, even in selfishness, almost always are selfish for the sake of others like children or spouses etc, ESPECIALLY in disaster. Humans by nature care so deeply about others that it's ingrained in our biology like no other to feel bad about others and be humble to the point we attach feelings and guilt to objects we misuse or dispose of. We are so unlike other animals in being so guilty and pessimistic about how good we could still be that despite all this we view ourselves generally pessimistically. Humans rebuild nearly twice as fast as they develop. I'm happy humans can be so kind despite the potential for so much evil that we'd do things purely for the sake of kindness but it frustrates me how often we portray ourselves as bad when we forget that we're a collective. Not only are you not bad, its unkind to also project that on to others.

Be proud to be human

Be proud to be kind

and most importantly

stay kind :)
