Why Won't They Talk To Me?
by Tame Impala

Out of the zone
Trying to see
I'm so alone
Nothing for me
I guess I'll go home
Try to be sane
Try to pretend
None of it happened
Oh this old tree
Lonely old me
Whoops-a-daisy
I thought I was happy, oh

Out of this zone
Now that I see
I don't need them
And they don't need me
I guess I'll go home
Try to be sane
Try to pretend
None of it happened
Destined to be
Lonely old me
Whoops-a-daisy
I thought I was happy, oh

Ah, why won't they talk to me? (I thought I was happy)
Ah, why won't they talk to me? (I thought I was happy)
Ah, why won't they talk to me? (I thought I was happy)
Ah, why won't they talk to me? (Aaaah-aaaah)
Ah, why won't they talk to me?

But I don't even care about it anyway
I wouldn't listen to a word any of them say
They just talk about themselves all day
One day I'll be a star and they'll be sorry

Ah, why won't they talk to me?
Ah, why won't they talk to me?
Ah, why won't they talk to me?
Ah, why won't they talk to me?
Ah, why won't they talk to me?

I used to think it was a lonely song but its a questionable statement, why wont they talk to me? what makes them more superior? Its more about discovering your own importance and self worth rather then being an outcast , goes along with the whole theme of the album, being lonely seems depressing at first but within solitude is where you find yourself

It happens to me. I used to hang out with my beloved friends in my third world country where I came from, but the more I know about the world and about myself, the more it pulls me away from them. Ever since I went to study in a first-world country a few years ago, they all started viewing me differently, like 'more superior than them'. Although I tried my best to be consensus, doing what they all do, acting just as if I'm still 'me', but the knowledge gap seems to pull me away from them more and more. I won't say they're stupid, they just lack theoretical knowledge, as they live life doing practical stuff and learning from their mistakes instead of learning from books and attending schools. As much as I love them, as they're all really nice people, I had to leave them; or at least try to keep my distance from them. Maybe 'The Less I Know The Better'
