Their most popular song is probably "Glass Vase, Cello Case", which was the love theme for the indie romantic comedy But I'm A Cheerleader. (The soundtrack for this film was never pressed.)
Take Ten
Tattle Tale Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Kick my knees
Four, five, six
Maybe I'm selfish
Seven, eight
It's getting late
Nine, ten, eleven
I think my head's in heaven
I am here
I'm here
I am here
I am here
I am scared
I'm scared
I am scared
I am scared
You will see
I'm spinning
I am spinning
And I swear
I'm not kidding
I'm not kidding
The train goes by
But I don't even see it fly
The sky turns to dawn
I can't even see the sun
You blow a kiss to me
But I can't feel anything
You hold my hand
I can't hear anyone
Anyone
Anyone
I am one
Anyone
I am someone
Anyone
Anyone
I am one someone
Anyone I am one someone
I am here
I'm here
I am here
I am here
I am true
I'm true
I am true
I am true
You will see
I'm spinning
I am spinning
And I swear
I'm not kidding
I'm not kidding
Maybe I'm holding on too tight
But if you wanna let go of you tonight
But you know I could find the same
So good night
One, two, three
Kick my knees
Four, five, six
Maybe I'm selfless
Seven, eight
It's getting late
Nine, ten, eleven
I think my head's in heaven
Nine, ten, eleven
I think your head's in heaven
Nine, ten, eleven
I think my/your head's in heaven
Nine, ten, eleven
I think my/your head's in heaven
Nine, ten, eleven
I think my head's in heaven
Nine, ten, eleven
I think your head's in heaven
Nine, ten, eleven
I think my head's in heaven
Nine, ten, eleven
I think your head's in heaven
Nine, ten, eleven
Nine ten eleven
I think your head's in heaven
The lyrics of Tattle Tale's song Take Ten depict a person who is struggling with their emotions and their connection with the world around them. The counting sequence in the beginning of the song is a way for the person to ground themselves and find some sort of order in the chaos they are feeling. The repetition of "I am here" and "I am scared" suggest that the person is trying to convince themselves of their reality and validate their feelings. The lines "You blow a kiss to me, but I can't feel anything" and "You hold my hand, I can't hear anyone" suggest that the person is not fully present in their interactions with others and is struggling to connect with them.
The repeated lines "I am spinning" and "And I swear I'm not kidding" convey a sense of anxiety and urgency in the person's emotional state. The use of the phrase "head's in heaven" is ambiguous and could suggest a feeling of transcendence or detachment from reality. The closing lines "Nine, ten, eleven, I think your head's in heaven" could be directed towards the person the singer is interacting with, suggesting that they too are struggling with their connection to the world.
Overall, the lyrics of Take Ten convey a sense of emotional turmoil and a struggle to connect with reality and with others. The counting sequence and repetition of certain phrases serve as a way for the person to attempt to ground themselves and validate their feelings, albeit with limited success.

My god, I love this song SO much, but it really makes me sad. I was so young and I had my whole life ahead of me when I first got into Tattle Tale.
I met someone who had their EP... I took it and played it everyday. Then the tape deck ate the tape and I couldn't fix it. But much to my elation, Sew True had been released a 3 or 4 months before this happened. And I got my hands on it... And it was glorious.
Not your typical straight teenage boy music, I know... But it spoke to me, and I didn't feel quite as alone.

I’ve been searching for a way to buy or even buy and download this one and everything from Tattle Tale. I love them, I’m seeing I’m not alone I’ve been searching for Glass vase cello case FOREVER! Today I was able to buy Bunkbed on Apple Music which I’ve looked for fruitlessly for over a decade. I was inspired to see if Tattle Tale also became available. All of a sudden. Fingers crossed!
