With the music industry saturated with guys wearing black, covering their faces with their hair, screaming at the top of their lungs, and making ballads at the same time, you might think to yourself, "Where the good vibes at?". The underground scene of reggae influenced rock bands continues to grow. Shows are packed, girls are dancing, party busses are getting filled, and the scene is evolving.
There have always been stand out bands of this genre throughout the years. Most people just relate this sound to the band Sublime. But others like The Police and The Clash also had phenomenal success and are also a huge influence in the music scene today. Eventually this rock/reggae scene started growing and growing, and now is undeniably one of the biggest live draws on the West Coast and around the nation. So many bands are having success and having a great time doing it.
The B FOUNDATION was formed in 2001 in Arcadia, CA with one thing in mind, taking over the world! With a few small changes over the last four years, the B FOUNDATION has found an awesome lineup and a well distinguished sound. The B FOUNDATION has played on many stages since 2001, from your backyard to sold out venues across the country. From city to city the shows are filled with good people who know how to have a good time. Lead guitarist Gyl Bonus (formerly of The Family Dog) has one the most unique guitar styles in the music business. His fast fingers set the tone and energy for every live performance and his riffs are unmatched. Singer/Guitarist Patrick Stevenson is one of the most charismatic people in Los Angeles. His vocal range is amazing and his guitar playing is the foundation of the foundation. Patrick has developed into an excellent songwriter and his personal "take on the world" vibe can be heard in THE B FOUNDATION songs. The rhythm section is solidified with Bassist Jason Moorehead and Drummer Ian McGrath. Together the two are seamless on stage and in the studio.
THE B FOUNDATION released their first full length in March of 2004, entitled "The Deep End". Beginning in February 2006 The Deep End became distributed internationally in Japan. THE B FOUNDATION has also licensed their music to many different companies over the years and has an extensive film credit history. And I lost track of time
Like summer's rain on all things
Can you lead the way I'm blind.
But it's not normal how these cloudy skies blocks over mine
*something*'s tough but I'll make it through with you there by my side.
Feel like a king I wear my crown
Oh, I don't know why, but I don't mind, yes sir.
That lord, everything'll be alright, yeah everything'll be alright
Lord everything'll be alright, yes sir.
She's the type of girl who turns me on
In the middle of the night, lord, when the mood is right
She'll go as far as to even prove me wrong
When I know damn well what I'm talking about and I sing it in this song.
Caught in the midst, I look up high
Look to the sun and I burn my eyes
Oh, I don't know why, but I don't mind, yes sir.
That lord, everything'll be alright, oh everything'll be alright
Yeah everything'll be alright, yes sir.
Woah everything'll be alright, yeah everything'll be alright
Lord everything'll be alright, yes sir.
I've stood and watched god only knows how long
And it's about time I stepped it up while my mental strength is strong.
Three years ago my normal life was gone.
Now I'm back on top with a bottle of scotch and not sure what I did wrong.
Caught in the brig, I scream out loud
Jump off the stage and into the crowd
Oh, I don't know why, but I don't mind, yes sir.
Lord, everything'll be alright, and everything'll be alright
Lord everything'll be alright, yes sir.
One more time
Everything'll be alright, lord everything'll be alright
Yeah and everything'll be alright, yes sir oh my.
The lyrics of "Be Alright" by The B Foundation express the need for guidance and support in times of hardship. The opening lines suggest frustration with someone who is always uptight and knows everything. The singer then turns to the metaphor of summer rain, a time of growth, and change, to express their sense of losing track of time and needing to be led. The phrase "cloudy skies" suggests depression, darkness, and confusion that can be overwhelming. However, the singer seems to find comfort in the presence of a partner, as they navigate through tough times together. The lines "Feel like a king I wear my crown" suggest a sense of empowerment that comes from being supported by a loved one.
The song then shifts focus to a particular object of desire, a girl who turns the singer on and challenges them. The line "She'll go as far as to even prove me wrong, when I know damn well what I'm talking about and I sing it in this song" suggests a playful, yet respectful power dynamic in their relationship. Caught in the midst of this complicated emotional landscape, the singer turns to the sun, literally and metaphorically, to look for clarity. The repetition of "Everything'll be alright" at the end of each verse and the chorus seems to suggest a mantra of hope and resilience, despite the difficulties.
Overall, "Be Alright" is an uplifting song that acknowledges the complexities of human emotions and relationships. It recognizes the importance of having a support system and a sense of purpose in life while also acknowledging the inevitable difficulties that come our way.
