1. The Bad Examples are a alternative pop rock / indie group from Chicago, Illinois who have had some success in European markets also. They formed in 1987. The driving force behind the band is singer songwriter Ralph Covert who also plays rhythm guitar. The band has significant changes in the line up from album to album which lends itself to variations in their sound. Even though the line up changes, for the most part it recycles itself within a core group of musicians.
The Bad Examples are not disbanded but are limited in performing and putting out new albums. This is due to the fact that Ralph Covert is currently creating music for children under the Ralph’s World brand. Ralph’s World is rock n’ roll musically but the lyrics and themes are oriented towards kids. Some of these albums have been nominated for Grammy Awards. Ralph's World is currently contracted with Disney. In addition, the lead guitarist of the Bad Examples, John Duich, died of heart failure in 1998.
The Bad Examples put out 5 full length LPs on Waterdog Records. Bad Is Beautiful features the song "Not Dead Yet" which received airplay on WXRT 93.1 in Chicago as well as other college stations in the area.
2. The Bad Examples Is an electronic Tiki band from Düsseldorf, Germany, consisting of
Jochen Hennes, Ralf Linden and Stefan Schwander. They released five albums between 1995 and 2007. Their sound is like age-old drum machines, analogue synthesizers weighing more than a hundred-weight and a Fender Rhodes piano uniting seamlessly with digital samples, groove boxes and sequencers, resulting in an electrifying mix of exoticism, dub and soundtrack. Schwander has had many other projects over the years, he is currently active under the name Harmonious Thelonious and is one-third of the trio The Durian Brothers.

The Bad Examples's song Over My Shoulder is about the after-effects of a failed relationship. The main character portrayed in the song is waiting for his former lover to come back to him, but he knows deep down that the love they shared is gone forever. He waits for her to come over to his place and knocks the door, but he is hesitant and torn between his desires and his self-respect. He is afraid that if she sees him waiting for her, she will assume that he is still in love with her and can't move on. So, instead of risking his pride, he gets up and locks the door, giving up hope of reconciliation.
The lyrics further reveal that the singer is struggling to come to terms with the reality of their broken relationship. Although he claims that he doesn't love her anymore, he is still holding onto the hope that they may eventually get back together. The winter season symbolizes the emotional coldness and distance between the two lovers, while the summer represents the warmth and affection that they once shared. However, no matter how hard he tries to forget, memories of their love keep haunting him, and he can't help but keep looking over his shoulder.
In addition, the song highlights the pain of separation and loneliness that comes after the end of a relationship.
