Susanna Hoffs released two solo albums in the 90's (a third album remained unreleased). Vicki Peterson joined the Continental Drifters. Debbie Peterson had a short-lived career with Siobhan Maher as Kindred Spirit, while Michael Steele lived in semi-retirement in California.
The Bangles reconvened in 2000 and recorded a reunion album, released in 2003, on Koch Records called "Doll Revolution". By lucky coincidence(?) their single 'Eternal Flame' had since been covered by, and become a hit record for, Atomic Kitten which helped to rekindle interest in its original artist.
"Sweetheart of the Sun," The Bangles first album of original material since "Doll Revolution" was released September 27, 2011. The Anna Lee (Sweetheart Of The Sun) Songfacts states that the album was recorded in various home studios - those of Vicki Peterson and Susanna Hoffs as well as the Hollywood Hills home studio of singer-songwriter Matthew Sweet, who produced the record.
They continue to play live sporadically. In January 2018, they played their first show since 2016 at Honda Center in Anaheim. It also was their first gig with original bassist Annette Zilinskas since 1983.
Let It Go
The Bangles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Your head is filled with questions,
sights and sounds
Distractions always get you down
Turn around
Trying to remember
Where you were the day before
North and south and east and west
Where to go
When it's over
When it's done
Let it go
Frightened by the numbers
All the possibilities
Changing minds you hope to find
One more dream
To remind you
What is lost can always be regained
Ooh
The lyrics to The Bangles' song "Let It Go" are about the struggle of constantly having a lot going on in one's head. The first verse speaks about being distracted by constant thoughts, sights and sounds that become overwhelming and often pull a person down. The second verse talks about being confused about direction, and not knowing where to go next or what to do once one has arrived. The chorus reassures the listener that whatever it is they are worried about, they should just let it go, implying that it isn't worth the worry or stress.
The bridge of the song speaks to the fear that comes with endless possibilities and options. The lyric "frightened by the numbers" could be interpreted as being overwhelmed by the amount of choices out there. The song then talks about changing one's mind and hoping to find one more dream that can remind a person that things can always be regained.
Overall, "Let It Go" is a song about navigating the many obstacles that come with everyday life and learning to let go and move forward.
