Susanna Hoffs released two solo albums in the 90's (a third album remained unreleased). Vicki Peterson joined the Continental Drifters. Debbie Peterson had a short-lived career with Siobhan Maher as Kindred Spirit, while Michael Steele lived in semi-retirement in California.
The Bangles reconvened in 2000 and recorded a reunion album, released in 2003, on Koch Records called "Doll Revolution". By lucky coincidence(?) their single 'Eternal Flame' had since been covered by, and become a hit record for, Atomic Kitten which helped to rekindle interest in its original artist.
"Sweetheart of the Sun," The Bangles first album of original material since "Doll Revolution" was released September 27, 2011. The Anna Lee (Sweetheart Of The Sun) Songfacts states that the album was recorded in various home studios - those of Vicki Peterson and Susanna Hoffs as well as the Hollywood Hills home studio of singer-songwriter Matthew Sweet, who produced the record.
They continue to play live sporadically. In January 2018, they played their first show since 2016 at Honda Center in Anaheim. It also was their first gig with original bassist Annette Zilinskas since 1983.
In A Different Light
The Bangles Lyrics

I see you in a different light
I want to make a movie
I want to put you on the silver screen
Sit in a darkened room and look at you from a distance
want to write a novel
Freeze all your expressions into words
I see you in a different light
I see you in a different light
I want to paint your portrait
Hang your colors on my wall
Discussing form and content with my friends and drinks
And no one thinks at all
I see you in a different light
I see you in a different light
The Bangles' 'In A Different Light' song is centered around the idea of seeing someone in a new and different way. The song explores the ways in which someone can alter a person's perspective and make them see them in a new light. The lyrics convey a desire to capture their essence and create something lasting out of their image. It's about wanting to immortalize this person and put them on a pedestal in a sense, as if they are larger than life.
The opening line, "I see you in a different light," repeats throughout the song and is a powerful statement on its own. It conveys the idea that the subject of the song has transformed the way the singer sees the world around them. They want to take this newfound perspective and use it as inspiration to create art in various forms. The singer wants to write a novel, make a movie, and paint a portrait, all centered around this person.
The chorus serves as a refrain that brings the focus back to the main point of the song: the idea that the singer sees this person in a whole new way. It's a powerful feeling that's difficult to describe, but the song does a great job of capturing it in its lyrics and melody.
