1) The English two-tone ska band The Beat known as The English Beat in North America and The British Beat in Australia.

2) The American power-pop band became known as Paul Collins' Beat in Europe.

1. The Beat are a band founded in Birmingham, England, in 1978. Their music fuses ska, pop, soul, reggae and punk rock.
The Beat, consisting of Dave Wakeling (vocals, guitar), Ranking Roger (vocals), Andy Cox (guitar), David Steele (bass), Everett Morton (drums), and Saxa a.k.a. Lionel Augustus Martin (1930 – 2017) (saxophone), released three studio albums in the early 1980s: I Just Can't Stop It (1980), Wha'ppen? (1981) and Special Beat Service (1982), and a string of singles, including "Mirror in the Bathroom", "Too Nice to Talk To", "Can't Get Used to Losing You", "Hands Off, She's Mine" and "All Out to Get You".[3]
Although the group’s main fan-base was in the UK, they were also popular in Australia thanks to regular exposure on the government-owned rock radio station Triple J and the nationally-broadcast TV pop show Countdown. They had a sizeable following in the U.S., and a strong presence on that country’s college radio.

After the break-up of The Beat, Dave Wakeling (guitar, lead vocals) and Ranking Roger (vocals) went on to form General Public, while Andy Cox (guitar) and David Steele (bass guitar) formed Fine Young Cannibals with vocalist Roland Gift.

Members of the band often collaborated on stage with The Specials and performed together on tracks such as “Free Nelson Mandela”. In the early 1990s, Roger joined members of The Specials to form the new band The Special Beat, which released two live albums.

Ranking Roger’s son, Ranking Junior, has followed in his father’s footsteps. In 2005, he appeared on The Ordinary Boys’ single “Boys Will Be Boys”. In 2003, The Beat’s original line-up, minus Cox and Steele but with the addition of Junior, played a sold-out one-off gig at the Royal Festival Hall. As of 2005, The Beat has reformed, counting Roger, Blockhead and Morton of the original line-up, with Ranking Junior also on vocals. The band is said to have the blessing of Cox, Steele and Saxa (of Desmond Dekker fame).

The Beat’s lead singer Dave Wakeling also continues to tour as The English Beat, as he has done for the last three decades, with an amazing all-star ska backing band playing the hits of The English Beat, General Public, and his new songs.
Saxa died on 3 May 2017, Ranking Roger died on 26 March 2019.

2. The Beat (known in Europe as The Paul Collins Beat or Paul Collins' Beat), were an American rock and power pop group from Los Angeles, California that formed in the late 1970s. The Beat resurfaced in the 1990s and continues to tour and record new material as Paul Collins' Beat. Frontman Paul Collins has released several projects with his alternative country group The Paul Collins Band, who play Americana music inspired by country rock and folk rock.

Dear Future Grass, this video is PLENTY OF FUN! It's a great way to get in some cardio. I don't typically like cardio except for dance and maybe jump rope and because this video is dance-inspired, it totally worked for me.

Tip: prepare for sweat and have some water nearby. You'll also need a lot of space for this video.

I've been doing this routine everyday since my quarantine started and I'm very slow at getting moves and have a non-flexible body and I've always thought I hated perky trainers but it's like kimmy schimidt is telling me to do things, I've gotten much better at it with time and she makes me happy even if working out really makes me sad and self-conscious.

Same, a friend who I used to hate everything together with turned me onto Cassie when she started to work on her own health. I find Cassie a good positive motivator even when I'm yelling at my laptop like 'HOW TF ARE YOU DOING THIS, WHY DO YOU HATE ME' lol somehow she keeps me calm despite disliking both the workout and overly positive energies that usually wear me out, maybe that's why her workout work so well on me, they challenge me mentally and physically to let positivity into my life. If I’m being honest this is probably my 10th round of the beginning calendar (every few months I’ll get about 1-7 days in and give up) but this is the first time around I’ve actually been able to get through every video with minima breaks and be semi-consistent with working out. This is a HIGE step for me. So if you’re lacking motivation, don’t worry. I’ve been there PLENTY of times. But don’t be too hard on yourself, work out for the right reasons (health), and trust that one day it will get better. One thing I’ve learned is to have a ton of patience with myself, and you guys should too <3

Day 4 of beginners calendar, and I thought that I wouldn't be able to get through. I did rest for a second once or twice, but this video structure was much more enjoyable because it's constant motion and fairly simply (but LONG) exercises. I was SO happy when she reached the end and said, "You did it!" Cassie, unlike many other fitness YouTubers, is positive and encouraging. Today felt really good!

Please please do something like this again! I don't know why but for some reason this is the ONLY cardio workout that I genuinely smile through and am bubbling of happiness through it. Not sure why I love it so much but I do and I was so happy to see that it was on today's workout calendar 10th June 2020! :)

I love this routine. We just added a new little one to our family, and I often like to start with the beginner's calendar when baby is a few months old to ease back in to Blogilates after a pregnancy. I always start feeling excited when I get to this video!!

I've been sick for a very long time (auto immune disease) and have only just gotten back into going to the gym, I was sitting on my bed just watching videos in my subscription and once this came on I just got straight up and started doing it!

I recently pulled my groin muscle. A 2nd degree pull that has taken 2 months to allow me to jog again. This video was difficult but not so much that I was in pain. I enjoyed the booty cramps and can't wait to get fit again.
