On AT THE END OF THE SEA, their third long player, THE BEAUTY OF GEMINA have chosen an itinerary which is loaded by far more rock elements, placing an emphasis on powerful guitar sounds stirred with a shot of gloomy electro sounds thus displaying an almost inexhaustible spectrum of expressive melodies and compositional refinement. With both DIARY OF A LOST (2007) and A STRANGER TO TEARS (2008), their prior albums, the band lead by its charismatic singer and songwriter Michael Sele conquered the international rock and wave scene by storm. Likewise in its still young band career it has achieved numerous successes, among which a number 1 hit in the Gothic Global Charts, an 8 week placement in the German Alternative Charts (DAC), giving acclaimed concerts in England, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria, playing as supporting act for The Smashing Pumpkins at the Hallenstadion in Zurich, the biggest concert hall in Switzerland.

On a night like this
Under a desert sky
Close my eyes
For a thousand years
For a thousand years
For a thousand years
I lost my dreams
Fade away
Fade away
I look in the mirror
It′s all secure
On a night like this
An ancient life, an ancient town
Forgotten gods are rising up
I look in the mirror
An ancient life, an ancient town
Forgotten gods are rising up
I look in the mirror
I look in the mirror
It's all secure
On a night like this
Fade away
Fade away
Fade away
Fade away
Fade away
Fade away
Close my eyes
On a night like this
Under a desert sky
Close my eyes
For a thousand years
For a thousand years
For a thousand years
I look in the mirror
It′s all secure
On a night like this
An ancient life, an ancient town
Forgotten gods are rising up
I look in the mirror
An ancient life, an ancient town
Forgotten gods are rising up
I look in the mirror
An ancient life, an ancient town
Forgotten gods are rising up
I look in the mirror
An ancient life, an ancient town
Forgotten gods are rising up
I look in the mirror
An ancient life, an ancient town
Forgotten gods are rising up
I look in the mirror
The lyrics to The Beauty of Gemina's song "A Night Like This" evoke a sense of introspection and reflection. The opening lines, "Close my eyes, On a night like this, Under a desert sky," suggest a moment of vulnerability and solitude. The singer is seeking solace or escape from reality, using the act of closing their eyes to transport themselves to a different time or place.
The repetition of the line "For a thousand years" adds to the sense of longing and timelessness. It hints at a desire for a profound and enduring experience, perhaps hoping to find some sort of resolution or self-discovery during this night. The mention of lost dreams further reinforces the idea that the singer is searching for something they once had but now seems elusive.
The refrain, "I look in the mirror, It's all secure, On a night like this," suggests that the act of looking inward brings a sense of stability and reassurance. The mirror serves as a metaphor for self-reflection and introspection, providing a sense of comfort and grounding during this transformative night.
The references to an "ancient life" and an "ancient town" hint at a connection to the past, perhaps suggesting a longing for a simpler and more meaningful existence. The mention of forgotten gods rising up adds an element of mysticism and spirituality to the lyrics. It implies that during this night of reflection, the singer is tapping into ancient wisdom and a deeper sense of purpose.
Overall, "A Night Like This" portrays a yearning for introspection, self-discovery, and a connection to something greater than oneself. It explores themes of longing, lost dreams, and the transformative power of reflection.
