The band's only appearance on the UK Singles Charts was "I'm the Urban Spaceman", which reached #5 in October 1968. The single was produced by Paul McCartney under the pseudonym "Apollo C. Vermouth". The band disbanded in 1970. The band reunited briefly in 1972 and again in 1988, before reuniting permanently in 2002.
After the initial split, Innes provided songs for "Monty Python's Flying Circus" and the Monty Python troupe's subsequent films, and is often considered to be an "unofficial member" of the troupe. Stanshall died in a house fire in 1995.
The band's six albums are: "Gorilla" (1967), "The Doughnut in Granny's Greenhouse" (1968, released as "Urban Spaceman" in the US), "Tadpoles" (1969), "Keynsham" (1969), "Let's Make Up and Be Friendly" (1972) and "Pour l'Amour des Chiens" (2007).
Humanoid Boogie

Some people say it with flowers
Some people say it at Lloyd's
But you don't find many tryin' to say it with humanoids
Well, the Humanoid Boogie's got the humanoid hip-types
Jumpin' and-a jivin'
Burnin' out their energy cells like an infrared hot dog
Of the humanoid heart-throb sobbin' out a ticker tape tune
By the light of the moon
Bleep, bleep, keep rockin', daddy, do the stroll
Because the Humanoid Boogie's full of humanoid rock and roll
Mad Dan Sugar Man and Henrietta Holocaust
Introduce to you what's new on the humanoid scene
It's a wow; it's a scream
Knick knack paddywack, give a dog a humanoid
Let's have fun, gonna get a personality cell
If all goes well
Bleep, bleep, keep rockin', daddy, catch the power!
Because the Humanoid Boogie's been requested on two-way Humanoid Hour
Oh, bay-bee!
Some people say it with flowers, some people say it at Lloyd's
But you don't find many tryin' to say it with humanoids

The Bonzo Dog Band’s “Humanoid Boogie” is a playful and humorous take on the idea of finding love through technology. It begins by contrasting the typical ways people express affection, such as with flowers or at Lloyd’s, with the unorthodox method of using humanoids. The humanoids are described as having “hip-types” and energy cells, which they burn out while doing the “Humanoid Boogie.” The lyrics suggest that the dance is highly addictive and contagious, with heartbeats and heart-throbs causing the humanoids to create a “ticker tape tune” by the moonlight.
The song then introduces two characters, Mad Dan Sugar Man and Henrietta Holocaust, who are on the forefront of the humanoid scene. They encourage listeners to try the new trend and “get a personality cell,” causing them to become programmed in a multiple response ratio. The final verse says that “Humanoid Boogie” is going to reach number one on the charts because it is a “wow, it’s a gas, it’s a Wall Street Crash.” The lyrics end by once again encouraging listeners to keep dancing and rocking out to the humanoid rock and roll.
