From New Orleans, they were classically trained and switched over to jazz as they grew up along with the form. First recorded in 1925, they went on to play vaudeville and ended up on radio in California. After being heard coast to coast on one of the first nationwide radio hookups, they became stars of radio in NYC headlining both their own programs, as well as working on shows with Bing Crosby and The Mills Brothers until the trio disbanded in 1936, mainly due to their marriages. They also appeared in many films of the time. (See youtube)
Connie Boswell, who later changed the spelling of her name to Connee, continued as a solo singer after the demise of the group, influencing singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra. She did all this despite being unable to walk alone due to childhood polio and other back injuries.
"There is only one person I ever tried to sing like and that person was Connee Boswell."
Ella Fitzgerald, NBC News interview
"Connee Boswell is, without a doubt, the most widely imitated singer of all time."
Frank Sinatra

Don't Let Your Love Go Wrong
The Boswell Sisters Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't let your mind go ga-ga
Don't let yourself get hot-cha
Don't let your love go wrong
Don't let the moonlight get you
Don't let a stranger pet you
Don't let a kiss upset you
Remember who you're promised to
No matter where or when
Feel a thrill against your will?
Count up to ten and be yourself again
Don't let your nerves go ha-ha
Don't let you heart go boom-ba
Don't let yourself get hot-cha
Don't let your love go wrong
Down Cuba, I met someone
I've been dreaming of
We used to spoon underneath and view the moon
We did nothing' but talk about love
Since I left you, I've been counting every single day
When I'm alone
I call him on the phone
Here is what I say
Don't let your eyes go go-ogoo
Or your mind go ga-ga
Ahhhh
Don't let yourself get hot-cha
Over any moo-cha-cha
Don't let your love go wrong
Don't let the moonlight get you
Or a stranger pet you
Ahhhh
Don't let a kiss upset you
And honey I'll bet you
You won't let your love go wrong
You remember your promise
Beneath each twinkling star
I've been missing your kisses
I want to be where you are
Don't let your nerves go ha-ha
And your heart go boom-ba
Ahhh
Don't let yourself get hot-cha
Over any moo-cha-cha
And you won't let your love go wrong.
Ahhhh
Don't let your love go wrong
The Boswell Sisters' song "Don't Let Your Love Go Wrong" is a playful cautionary tale about staying true to one's promises and commitments, particularly in matters of the heart. The song's lyrics advise against succumbing to the temptation of wild infatuation, warning the listener not to let their eyes go "goo-goo," their minds go "ga-ga," or their nerves go "ha-ha." At the same time, the song acknowledges the power of love and attraction, highlighting the difficulty of resisting someone who makes your heart "go boom-ba." However, the song ultimately encourages listeners to stay faithful to their promises and to their partners, reminding them that real love is about more than just momentary passion.
