They made a name for themselves by consistently touring over the United States. Rather than signing with a known label, they initially decided to found their own, Chunksaah Records (named after their long-time friend Timmy Chunks), but are now releasing their albums on Epitaph Records.
The Bouncing Souls are one of the best selling and longest lived of the punk bands from New Jersey, following the legacy of previously successful punk bands Adrenalin OD and the Misfits.

Sounds of the City
The Bouncing Souls Lyrics

somehow they comfort me
on lonely mornings like this
is someone out there like me
walking their own lonely street
walking their own lonely street
somehow they comfort me
on lonely mornings like this
this emptiness inside
loneliness i fear
in this pain i'm not alone
in this city that is my home [x3]
Woah Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Woahh
one lonely heart
reaching out to you
want's strength to see us through
and yell together
this one goes out to you!!!
we are not alone
in this city that is our home [x5]
The Bouncing Souls' song "Sounds of the City" explores the theme of loneliness and how the sounds of the bustling city can provide some solace to those who feel alone. The opening lines of the song, "the sounds of the city / somehow they comfort me / on lonely mornings like this," sets the tone for the rest of the song. Despite feeling empty and afraid of loneliness, the singer finds comfort in the noise and activity of the city that surrounds them. They wonder if there are others out there like them, walking their own lonely street, and the answer is probably yes - there are likely many people going through something similar.
As the song progresses, the chorus repeats the idea that the city is the singer's home, and that they are not truly alone. The line "one lonely heart / reaching out to you / wants strength to see us through" suggests a desire for connection with someone else, and the last lines of the song urge listeners to come together and support each other. In a way, the sounds of the city become a symbol of the way life goes on even when we feel lost or alone, and the possibility for human connection if we're brave enough to reach out.
Overall, "Sounds of the City" conveys a message of hope despite loneliness and uncertainty, and the power of community to bring people together.
