1) The Brilliance is a contemporary classical music duo composed of David Gungor and John Arndt, originating from Tulsa Oklahoma.
The journey started in early 2009 when David became inspired to create a unique and different musical experience outside of the typical "christian music" soundscape.
"I wanted to make a Christian record that was constructed in a fresh way. I had an idea to base a record around a string quartet and piano, and then build around that."
David teamed up with longtime friend and fellow musician John Arndt and began the creative process.
"I called John Arndt, and asked if he could produce the record, and do the string arrangements. He challenged me and brought out the best of the music. "
In early October The Brilliance released their first single to the iTunes store.
2) "The Brilliance is an alternative/garage/punk/rock band that was originally formed in 2004. Over the years we played many a show, recorded many a song, and got wasted one too many a time!. During first three years as a band, we recorded three e.p.'s that included 22 songs in total. However, only one of the three was ever really pressed and sold at our shows. Because of this, we are going to release a collection of the best songs from those e.p.'s as well as three new ones that were tracked and recorded over the past 4 months. "Recollection" will be the first and hopefully not last full length album that we will have officially released. I (Paul Brilliance) have been personally making music since 1997 and this has been a long time in coming. The dichotomy of both the old and new songs really flows together well. Recording and musical progression can be heard through each phase of the bands existence, which for me personally was a humbling realization. However, I am proud of everything we have done. I wrestled with the idea of re-recording many of the old songs but decided not to because the purity in the originals is something not found in recordings today. People are so used to a polished perfect sounding product, that they don't realize they are not getting an honest recording. If anything, the Brilliance has always been nothing but DIY and honest." -from https://www.facebook.com/thebrilliancerocks/info
Brother
The Brilliance Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Of my enemy
I see my brother
I see my brother
When I look into the face
Of my enemy
I see my brother
Forgiveness is the garment
Of our courage
The power to make the peace
We long to know
Open up our eyes
To see the wounds that bind
All of humankind
May our shutter hearts
Greet the dawn of life
With charity and love
The Brilliance's song "Brother" tackles themes of forgiveness, love, and compassion for our fellow human beings - even those we consider our enemies. The opening lines are simple but powerful, as the singer declares that when they look at their enemy, they see their brother. This suggests a deep understanding of the human experience and a recognition that we are all connected in some way. The repetition of this line throughout the song emphasizes this point and underscores the importance of empathy and understanding.
The second half of the song centers on the concept of forgiveness, which is described as "the garment of our courage." This imagery is particularly striking because it suggests that forgiveness isn't just something we do - it's something we wear, something that becomes a part of who we are. The lyrics suggest that forgiveness allows us to make peace and see the wounds that bind us all together. There is a call to action, too, as the singer asks us to "open up our eyes" and extend love and charity towards our fellow humans.
Overall, "Brother" is a deeply poignant and thought-provoking song that shows the power of music to provoke contemplation and encourage change. The message of love and compassion is universal and speaks to the need for empathy and understanding in our world today.

Such a powerful song.. The lyrics really bring a perspective evoking the words of Christ to love our enemies, and 1 John 3:15
“Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” - To not hate the sinner, but to hate the sin.. To hate the ways of the world, not the person who was afflicted by the world. Our saving grace is meant for all through the mercy of Christ and all glory is to the glory of GOD alone.
