I Will Sing
The Brilliance Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You formed the sea
You formed the ground it clings to
And You formed me
You knew my days would come to pass
And You see me
And all the trials and troubles
And You chose me
And I am nothing without You

You reached out
From on high and took me
You saved me
And as Your son I will be Yours

Save me from this prison
(I will sing, I will sing)
Save me from this prison
(I will praise Your name)
Save me from this prison
(I will sing, I will sing)

Save me from this prison
(I will praise Your name)

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of The Brilliance's song "I Will Sing" speak of the almighty power of God, connecting His creative abilities to the very existence of the earth we live on and the people we are. The chorus then comes in, highlighting the connection between God and the person singing the song. The lyrics speak of being saved and becoming a child of God. The final part of the song talks about the struggles that the singer is facing and asking God to save them from the prison of their current situation. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus in which the singer pledges to continue singing songs of God's praise regardless of the circumstances he is in.

The theme of the song revolves around the singer's relationship with God. It highlights the idea of being saved and chosen by God, ultimately becoming a child of God. The lyrics also deal with the struggles that every person faces in their lives, such as being in a prison of one's own making through fear, insecurities or even life circumstances. The singer acknowledges that they are nothing without God but at the same time, they realize that God can lift them out of their struggles.

This song has to be understood in the context of a world that is becomingly increasingly polarised in the name of terrorism, migrants crossing over and racial hatred. We are fearful because we are hurt and there is no evidence before us to overcome. Only God's love can heal us and our hopes have to be pinned on "the day to come" when Christ our messiah will appear. Till than the challenge is to love vulnerably as he loved us!
