While their dance and soul-inspired grooves were an immediate sensation in Detroit, the band didn't debut on wax immediately. First there was 2000's "Watcha Got?" 7" for Sympathy for the Record Industry, followed soon after by an eponymous full-length for the label. A year later, the trio contributed to Jack White's famous (and famously lo-fi) Sympathetic Sounds of Detroit comp, and followed that up with the Hip Check! LP. The group's popularity in Detroit wasn't surprising; after all, the Come Ons drew liberally from the classic Detroit-style guide of punk, girl group, and rave-up revivalist R&B. The group continued to tear things up in 2002 and 2003, releasing the "Don't Tell Me" 7" for the U.K.'s Sweet Nothing imprint, and recording their third full-length at Jim Diamond's Ghetto Recorders.

As someone who lived and worked in Davos in hospitality, I can share some of my experience: First of, 60k/night for a night is either an extreme exaggeration or only the half truth. It's more likely that this rate would apply to a fully, with expensive furniture equipped 80sqm appartement rather than a room with 2 beds. Those are owned mostly by banks and investment firms and were built only because of the annual meeting. Housing space in Davos is limited and thus rents all year round are even for swiss standards (Zürich excluded) really expensive. Even in the neighboring towns like Klosters (1 room 20 sqm for 1500,- + franks; mind you that was 7-8 years ago, might be even more expensive now).

So to the event itself, everyday we had to undergo multiple security checks (when entering/leaving the work place), wear a badge and (!) sign something similar to an NDA. Only the Front Office Manager (which happened to be me if she wasn't around) was allowed to talk to the "high profile" visitors, unless they talked to us directly first. Many of them behaved like the "typical" arrogant aristocrat, treating the waiters and housekeeping literaly like subhumans. Kinda funny for people who act like that they care for the people and are so social when everyone can see them. Yep, also politicians from the left.

I can't talk much about the meetings themselves obviously, only watched a smaller, public one. But I can tell you this much: many of those attendees say one word, but mean another. Including people shown in this video. With over 13 years in this job (also with professional rhetoric training etc) I can with confidence say that I know how people are. They are not our friends.
But thats just my opinion.

Thats not true. While im sure there were some people who were working on insect farming for the sole purpose of feeding animals many others were looking at animal farming (mainly beef) as a whole and pointing to the emissions and inefficiencies of the whole operation. Their solution was to use insects as a protein replacement for human diets with meat from animals being a sometimes food isntead of eaten with every meal.

Quick correction on the mountain bankers: We DO NOT have the capability to house the entirety of our population inside those mountain bunkers. I think the max. capacity of all those facilities is like 20'000 people. What we do have is bunkers underneath almost every house. Weird thing about conspiracy theorists is they can identify problems and they can sometimes correctly identify what causes the problems, but then because of that helplessness they extrapolaite the cause and ailes of each ill up the cause and effect ladder to a shadowy group of people. In reality most of the bad is caused by government and/or business policy is done openly. Both businesses and governments pin blame on one another when addressing the people, but they will almost always work together against the people because it is in their inherit interest to do so. It isn't a conspiracy, its just basic incentives. An inevitability really. The system itself produces this but we don't have another choice. Government cannot perform the tasks industries do. They do not respond to scarcity as they can steal or demand more capital from the population by force at any time. Likewise businesses cannot take by force from people (without direct permission from the government). We know who the bad guys are. We know what they want to do they say it openly. We know they won't get their way most of the time because most people don't get their way most of the time. Conspiracy theorists ignore this, think its 'too obvious' or a distraction and then spend more time adding on stories to their theories instead of coming up with solutions to the direct problems they are facing within the system that exists. People are just really awfully lazy. Even people who you would think are suffering horribly from their lack of action just commit to continuing to suffer.

The interesting thing about the 'Own nothing, be happy' phrase was the essay talking about renting your assets for residuals with the emphasis being on how you'd be able to try multiple hobbies and upskill without the need for large upfront investments, the hope being on resources being able to go to those who need them than floundering unused.

I don't agree that AI has only advanced content creation. It also has serious applications in computer programming, protein folding, medical research, etc. - But it's hard to determine what is just PR fluff and what is actually useful technology. Probably most of the commercial closed-source technology (-companies) are a waste of time. Really, what we're doing is machine learning, which is another misnomer, and I think the field should have been called "statistical learning" to better reflect what it does, and what it's limitations are. Actually most of the basics of the machine learning algorithms are "ancient", some dating back to the 1960s(e.g. perceptron, which is very similar to modern neural networks, and are sometimes still used today for spam filters etc.). We just in the "past couple years" digitized, accumulated and categorized all the information and engineered the raw compute power to match - that's what really caused the "AI boom" IMHO.
Really, what enabled all the AI is all the smartphone apps and web tracking that built the dataset plus gamers that made matrix multiplications and multiply-accumulate operations *really* fast. The mathematics behind all is not really that complicated, and a lot of it was known for a long time(70+ years).

I can tell you about an application for machine learning I was involved in: image recognition for the analysis of ceramics used in artificial hips and knees.

You'd take a microscopic sample, and the image recognition ML program sorts out how many flakes of which material are there, their size and dimensions, and present all of that in a simple interface for the user. It reduces a tedious job that would take hours into only taking a few minutes

I think you've missed the point with AI. It isn't supposed to be good, it's supposed to offer passable quality for a fraction of the price. So similar to physical products over the last decades, we get lower quality, and in return the working class loses influence. 10/10 deal if you ask me.

Ah yes the "good" green, environmental iniative. That made windfarms on Sami reindeer fields in Norway. Windmills, that never ever will profitable, literally just a heap of junk that generates less energy than it costs to build and maintain. Or how about the electric cars, that are more costly for the environment than fuel cars when you consider production, efficiency and longevity. Of course if you just drive straight to work, to the store and home, an electric car might be for you, but it's not for everyone and everything. Yet here in Norway the government decided to end the sale of fuel cars, because they are all invested in green funds and stocks.
That's why they pretend to love the environment, so they can tax people for anything.
Soon breathing will be taxed here, driving is already taxed like 5 times or more.
You earn money, tax, you pay for car, tax, moms (a tax on your tax). Insurance, road tax, bom stations (remnants of nazi bunkers demanding money for you to drive on the road), EU-control (mechanic has to scam you at least one time every 4 years), also a car is part of your wealth, so pay tax on that too.
Oh and the carbon emission in your home are little high this week, so you have to pay extra.
No joke, they had people install this modern electricity system, that could be viewed from an app how much you consume. So they can charge more for the people that use more and a normal price for those who use little. I like people who toss their trash, recycling is also good.
Anything else, is usually a circus, a show for money. Billionaires with luxurious lifestyle, flying private jets to hold conferences on the importance of saving the environment.

In fact, I don't find OP that nitpicky at all since the Terminator is in fact not a human in any way and had zero place in Jones' argument.

Terminators, specifically the T-800 model, were indeed cyborgs. Their skin was not synthetic. It was real human skin grown over the endoskeleton.
