41st anniversary of this song this year.
Some people attribute it to 1982 because it was released by The Waitresses themselves in 82 but it was originally released in 81 when their record label was putting together a holiday album and wanted their various artists to contribute to it, according to Chris Butler he wrote it in a cab in NY on his way to the studio because that day was the deadline for their contribution to the album.
Just goes to show you what they say is true, the great one's write themselves, it ain't Stairway to Heaven but it ain't supposed to be, it's a holiday song and for one of them it's one of the greats.

I had never heard of this song before - loved it! It so described pretty much every Christmas for me! Panic! Anxiety! Stress! Exhaustion! This year, I had to spend Christmas alone because of the pandemic. Next year - I might just spend Christmas alone on purpose!

It was on a "Christmas Time" program on ROCKIN' DC98FM in Washington DC!!!
