It should be noted that Johnny Maestro went on to form the Brooklyn Bridge who had two number one hits including "The Worst That Could Happen" . His voice got better with age but unfortunately Mastroangelo passed away last year of throat cancer at the age of 65.

As good as Johnny Maestro was, and damn he was so good, what people fail to realize is that the Crests were one of the first integrated groups. There were a lot of places they didn't play, because of segregation. Johnny boldly led the charge in those early days, along with the Dell Vikings and others to gain widespread acceptance for black singers and groups. Not just an incredible voice, Johnny was an incredible person.
