Their most popular song was "Sixteen Candles" which rose to number 2 on the Billboard charts in 1958.
The 1984 John Hughes teen movie Sixteen Candles took its title from The Crests' song, which was rerecorded by The Stray Cats for the Sixteen Candles soundtrack.
It should be noted that Johnny Maestro went on to form the Brooklyn Bridge who had two number one hits including "The Worst That Could Happen" . His voice got better with age but unfortunately Mastroangelo passed away last year of throat cancer at the age of 65.

Calling all angels, calling all angels, calling all angels oo---ou
There's trouble in paradise
My turtle doves changing wings
There's trouble in paradise
The birds no longer sing
Some devil told my angel alot of lies
Like raindrops from the sky
There's trouble in paradise
The stars no longer shine
There's trouble in paradise
'Cause she's no longer mine
That devil told my angel I'd been untrue
Won't somebody help me please
Tell me me what to do
Bridge:
Mr. Moon, Mr. Sun
Tell her she's the only one
Guide her with your lovely light
Back into my arms tonight
There's trouble in paradise
& heaven's not the same
The angels sit & cry
They say it's such a shame
They'd like our love to be just like before
Then the trouble in paradise will be no more
(repeat bridge)
(repeat & fade):
Calling all angels, calling all angels
The song "Trouble in Paradise" by The Crests talks about the hardships and challenges that arise in a relationship, causing turmoil and distress. The lyrics describe how the singer's lover has been misguided by a devil's words and now they are experiencing problems in their relationship, which has made their tears fall like raindrops from the sky. The stars no longer shine and the birds no longer sing because they are no longer together. The singer pleads for help, asking the moon and the sun to guide his lover back into his arms.
In the end, the angels themselves are saddened by the loss of their love, wishing it were like before. This shows the universality of love and the importance of cherishing one's relationship to avoid trouble in paradise. The song's somber melody, paired with the melancholic lyrics, creates a mood of sadness and heartbreak.

I asked my grandma what song she wanted to hear no matter what it was I could play it for her. She chose this one. Ever since then I have loved this song. I will never forget how she lit up and sung every word. It's was truly amazing and I felt as if I was transported back in time To where she said she would dance with my grandpa to this. Awesome stuff I tell ya. One of the best feelings I've ever had.
