Oh What A Night
The Dells Lyrics
Do you recall the night
That very very special night?
Do you remember a girl, that very special girl?
Well to the old and to the new
We rededicate this song to you
Oh, what a night (to love you dear)
Oh, what a night (to hold you near)
Oh, what a night (to squeeze you dear)
That's why I love you so
Oh, what a night to (love you dear)
Oh, what a night to (walk you dear)
Oh, what a night to (kiss you dear)
That's why I love you so
I won't forget all those things
You have told to me
The craze in my heart
Won't let me forget your love
Oh, what a night (to love you dear)
Oh, what a night (to walk you dear)
Oh, what a night (to kiss you dear)
That's why I love you so
Oh, what a night (to love you dear)
Oh, what a night (to walk you dear)
Oh, what a night (to kiss you dear)
That's why I love you so
No, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no
One more night
Can I walk you home one more night?
I wanna make love to you one more night
I love you baby
I want you baby, I need you baby
I love you baby, one more night

The August 2, 1969 edition of Record World gave it a "Four Star Pick" review, stating: "This old, old, old, oldie sounds newer than tomorrow, via the Dells chartbreaker express. All will dig." The new "Oh, What a Night" was notably different from its original counterpart with an altered arrangement and tempo, and included a spoken recitation, in the introduction, from bass singer Chuck Barksdale. This new version reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and #1 on the Best Selling Soul singles chart.

I’m 24, born in 97 and I love listening to these old songs. They were so real, and made you feel something. Wish more music was like this.

When I was 21 I started a new job and met Shirley from Boston. She was older than me with kids, very sweet and she became a mother figure to me. One day we started talking about music and she mentioned this song. Thinking I knew what song she was talking I sang a few notes of The Four Season's tune. Shirley made a face and corrected me by singing this wonderful tune which I had never heard of before. I lost contact with Shirley, but this song always reminds me of her. I hope you are doing well Shirley.
