Just Friends
Amy Winehouse Lyrics

When will we get
The time to be
Just friends?

It's never safe for us
Not even in the evening
'Cause I've been drinking
Not in the morning
When your shit works
It's always dangerous
When everybody's sleeping
And I've been thinking
Can we be alone?
Can we be alone?

When will we get
The time to be
Just friends?
When will we get
The time to be
Just friends?

And, no, I'm not ashamed
But the guilt will kill you
If she don't first
I'll never love you like her
Thought we need to find a time
To just do this shit together
'Fore it gets worse
I want to touch you
But that just hurts

When will we get
The time to be
Just, just friends?
When will we get
The time to be
Just friends, just friends?

When will we get
The time to be
Just friends, just friends?
When will we get
The time to be
Just friends, just friends?

Just friends

I really wanna live in an alternate universe where Amy Winehouse is still alive and still making music.

I wish the same thing. But lately I’ve been thinking. Artists like Tupac, Biggie, Kurt Cobain. People like them who can be considered the greats all died young around the climax of their career. Then you look at people like Eminem. He fell off. He’s just some cringe old guy atp. I can’t help to think would that have been Tupac or biggie or Kurt Cobain or even Amy winehouse if they were still alive. I am not saying the artist in the industry should go kill themselves. I’m saying that artists dying is a huge publicity move. For example pop smoke or king von. They died and everyone started listening to their music. The industry and their labels started to push what they had. They became 10x more popular capitalizing off the fact they died. Something else is if they talk about things like addictions or depression. Like Amy winehouses addiction to alcohol later leading to her getting alcohol poisoning and dying in 2011. It legitimizes their art. It gives it a sense of realism that it didn’t have before cause for all you know they could have been faking. Especially now if an artist died from something that was self induced. Everyone makes music about how they are depressed cause all teens are these days in depressed and anxious. It just gives their art a sense of realism that we never knew was actually there. It’s the sad truth of this industry. It also branches into the fact people want to be victims. Someone died and all of a sudden everyone knows them. Whether it’s an artist or a person some actually knew. They always want to be seen as a victim even if they only saw them in the hallways at school or something.

My mom used to listen to Amy whinehouse all of the time. Amy really made my mom happy. My mom would light up when Amy whine house started singing. My mom died last year of an addiction last year and so I listen to this music to feel like my mom is here with me still.

Sweet sweet girl, both of my parents died unfortunately... I'm 27 years old, and I recognize myself in her.. it is a tragic that no one saved her while the whole world
were watching her.. she had such a beautiful soul... the only thing we can do is spread the love and the music that she made.. may her beautiful soul rest in peace 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
