Their first single was "No, No, No", which was a minor local hit for them as the Brooktones, who soon formally broke up as national success proved elusive. Summers and Dennis left the group, forming The Gems with Mark Stevens and Alan Horowitz in 1960, while the remaining former Brooktones signed to Chancellor Records and added Jerry Sirlin and William Shunkwiler to the group.
Their first hit was "Bristol Stomp" (also known as "The Bristol Stomp"), a dance song followed by the similar hit "Do the New Continental". They released a series of poppy singles over the next few years, facing various levels of success. Len Borisoff left in 1965 for a solo career under the name Len Barry. Having provided staples of oldies radio, the band continued to tour for decades. Interesting, the Dovells notably performed as backup singers, with them being a part of the Chubby Checker hit "Let's Twist Again", and also played for then U.S. President Bill Clinton twice.

No, no, no, don't stop me now
(We know where you wanna go, bet she's gonna tell ya)
(No, no, no)
Don't stop me now
Cause I'm on my way to see my baby
To hear her say that she's my baby
Oh, don't stop me now, Imma gonna tell her that I love her
She's so fine, And I love her so
I hope she's mine, but I have to know
I have to find out, I have to find out
If she loves me
(No, no, no)(no, no, no)
(Wait a second boy, so how come all the speed)
Gonna see my baby the girl I need
(Wait a second boy so we can talk)
Well I can't right now, cause I gotta run
No, no, no, don't stop me now
No, oh ho, don't stop me now
Just wait and see
Shes gonna tell me that she loves me
(No, no, no)
(Oh, ohh, eeee)
(She doesn't love you boy she only want your dough)
Oh, Say it isn't true, yes say it isn't so
(Never play it cool, She's gonna get your mind)
Well, like that's okay and I love you fine
No, no, no, don't stop me now
No, oh ho, don't stop me now
Just wait and see
She's gonna tell me that she loves me
Don't stop me now
(No, no, no)
I love, I love you so
(No, no, no)
I gotta know
Woah, oh, oh...
The Dovells's song "No No No" is a classic example of a love song with an added twist of persistence. The song is about a boy trying to see his beloved girlfriend and confess his love for her, despite everyone around him trying to stop him. Right from the start, the boy is determined not to let anyone or anything come in between him and his love. He tells everyone not to stop him, as he is on his way to see his baby, hear her say that she is his and finally confess his love for her. He keeps repeating it and makes it clear that he is not going to back down. The chorus "No, no, no, don't stop me now" is a clear indication of his stubbornness and dedication towards achieving his goal.
The bridge section of the song has an interesting conversation between the boy and his friends. His friends try to stop him by convincing him that the girl he loves only wants his money, but he is not willing to listen. He is willing to take the risk and find out for himself if she truly loves him. The last section of the song is a repeated chorus, indicating the boy's unwavering determination to see his girlfriend.
