Morning Light
The Earth And Everything In It Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But I'm still, still standing
I call upon the morning light
Sing your song
Bring the people back to life
Why do they make all the innocent suffer
Why don't they change their minds and let their hearts take control
It's so natural and easy
The governments are crazy
The people they amaze me
The writing's on the wall but they ignore it all
I am the Lord of the dance said he
And I'll lead you all where ever you may be
And I'll lead you all in the dance said he
Put your shoulder to the wheel
You know how it feels
When we get it right
We dance all night
With rude love
Coming from above
It's rude love
To make you feel good
Rude Love
The lyrics of "Morning Light" by The Earth And Everything In It depict a sense of resilience and hope in the face of adversity. The opening lines, "They try to take everything but I'm still, still standing," convey a determination to remain strong despite the challenges faced. This can be seen as a metaphor for standing firm in one's beliefs and values despite external pressures.
The chorus emphasizes the power of the morning light as a source of rejuvenation and awakening. By calling upon the morning light to "sing your song" and "bring the people back to life," the lyrics suggest a longing for a collective awakening, a return to a more conscious and compassionate state of being. It reflects a desire for change and a recognition of the suffering experienced by the innocent.
The following lines question the motives behind the perpetuation of war and suffering, urging for a change of mindset and a shift towards a more heart-centered approach. The lyrics express frustration with the irrationality of governments and the way they ignore the obvious signs and warnings. This can be seen as a critique of the political and societal systems that perpetuate chaos and injustice.
The reference to being the "Lord of the dance" reflects a spiritual or metaphysical perspective, where the singer embodies a guiding force, leading others towards a better future. It suggests a belief in the transformative power of unity and collective action. The final lines of the song, "Put your shoulder to the wheel... When we get it right, we dance all night," convey a sense of optimism and celebration in the face of adversity. It implies that when individuals come together and align themselves with love, positive change can be achieved.

@lindasim649
It is the only purely RnB album of hers ,with less hip hop in it. In Wiki it is characterized as indie pop. I am not sure I agree or that I know the term very well. But the album is fantastic. More lyric, nostalgic and less songs with "dirty" songs in it. She became really vulgar in the next 2 albums.
