1) An indie rock band from Bedford, UK.
2) Melodic wave and gothic – that is what THE ESCAPE stand for since they had been founded fifteen years ago.
Being based on synthesizer sounds in the beginning, the band from Bielefeld constantly changed their style towards gothic rock in the course of their history, like the 1999 album FAITH AND DECAY proved. As a consequence of the new style they had chosen, singer Elten, who for several years had stamped the sound of THE ESCAPE with his classicaly trained baritone, left the band, but very soon it turned out that founding member Ingo Klemens, who is on mike since 2000, could not only fill the gap without difficulty, but also added some new facets to the vocals, enriched with some fresh and rocking impulses by guitarist Thorsten Lawrenz. As a logical consequence, THE ESCAPE presented in the fall of 2001 MANDERLEY, an album praised by critics and even chosen "Demo of the Month" by German magazine Metal Hammer, which was inspiring for both fans of gothic rock and friends of melodic rock and wave.
THE ESCAPE, who are one of gothic rock's originals having their roots in the Eighties, do enjoy the status of a cult band within the scene due to their great live performance and their delight in playing which they proved with their shows on the Wave Gotik Treffen 2002, the Zillo Festival 2002 or the Black Elben Festival 2003, among others. A really strong impression of the band's live energy you get on the album LIVE – IVORY, released in summer 2004 which is also their first cooperation with Pandaimonium Records. The new songs featured on that album already revealed some secrets about their current release HOUSE OF MIND:
Straight, guitar-based gothic rock which never loses sight of their love for great melodies, ranging from dreamy and romantic to dark and melancholic. By mixing influences from Eighties-heroes like The Mission, Sisters of Mercy or Fields of the Nephilim, with new elements, THE ESCAPE create their own distinctive and independent sound stamped by Ingo Klemens' voice, which has even been compared to that of Ian Curtis. With HOUSE OF MIND, THE ESCAPE present dark rock at its best – atmospheric, stirring, irresistible!

3) As a relatively new band on the Scottish music scene, The Escape’s edgy, guitar-driven brand of rock’n roll has grabbed the attention of many local music fans and, with a wide array of influences ranging from the furious funk riffs of the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the mellow harmonies of Regina Spektor, The Escape are a band who appeal to all fans of popular music.
The band was instigated in August 2006 and first appeared in December later that year in a local gig organised by a friend. Having made an excellent first impression, they followed up with a headlining concert at Edinburgh’s Caberet Voltaire and, having foregone a brief change of line-up in March of 2007, The Escape have continued to thrive in the Edinburgh area; displaying a mature impression of sophistication way beyond their years.
The Escape have recently progressed through to the Scottish Emergenza Final which is being held at Carling Academy in Glasgow, coming 1st place in the Edinburgh Finals at Cabaret Voltaire.
