I'm 16, and proud to say I know who the Everly Brothers were. They have inspired harmonic duos, trios, and quartets for over half a century, and their music will continue to live on. This song gives me chills listening to it, and it is one of the few songs that still gives me chills minutes after I have finished listening to it. Amazing.

When I was little, my oldest sister had all this music, she would tuck me in at night and sing to me. She passed away in 94. I will always be grateful to her for the beautiful music she shared with me ❤️

My heart broke last night when I read Don died. The music he and Phil made from the late 50s through the early 60s were like a sing-along illustration of those days. Much admired by other musicians for their unique vocal stylings and those incredible harmonies, heaven must be ringin' with those sweet harmonies.

I was married in August 1959 and the following January I was called up for National Service. On the last weekend before I reported to the Royal Artillery at Oswestry my wife and I danced to a record of the Everly Brothers singing 'Let it be me' and it became 'our song'. On a cold March night I was on guard and through a barrack room doorway came 'Let it be me'. Tears rolled down my cheeks. I wonder what the punishment was for 'crying whilst on guard'!

This beautiful song reminds me of the 60s when I was a teenager listening to it from the LP given to us by a marine soldier in force at the USAF base in Vicenza (Italy) named David. I learned with great sadness that David died a few years later in Vietnam. How sad to die like this and so young, away from one's family. Rip David.

So sad to learn of Don s passing. I was privileged to meet Phil and Don after their concert at the Spektrum Oslo Norway on 24 July 2004 when they appeared with Simon and Garfunkel in concert. I had the greatest pleasure having seen them previously at the Royal Albert Hall London on September 23 1983. I had followed their music closely since my early days at Grammar School in England from 1957. Together with the Byrds and the Moody Blues they were my all time favourites and they will be sadly missed but their music lives on. A brilliant duo!

What a souvenir! In their time, I was a big fan of the Everly Brothers (and still I am). The original song in French was a huge hit here in France in 1955, and then was recorded by several persons, but that’s Don and Phil who really gave it a second life in 1959-1960, with their inimitable vocal harmonies. Their harmony arrangement was subsequently imitated, but the challenge was lost in advance for the competitors!
