Orlando conceived the idea for The Flirts, wrote the songs, played the instruments, and produced the tracks. He then auditioned girls to be the face of the group. Orlando often called in the services of professional session singers to sing the vocals for the tracks because most of the performers were trained as dancers, models, or actresses. The Flirts went through numerous lineup changes and with every album release and tour, some girls left the group while others stayed. The Flirts released six studio albums from 1982–1992 and assorted singles. They made several international tours in the 1980s, often in the club circuit, and would usually lip-synch or sing alongside the recordings.
Bobby discovered and produced the Pet Shop Boys. The Flirts' 1982 song Passion was cited by Pet Shop Boys' Chris Lowe as a primary reason for the band's formation.

You were with another girl
It was a crime it was such a disgrace
You really shattered my world
Little things remind me of you
Cheap cologne and that damn song too
I don't want to hear that song no more
Don't put another dime in the jukebox
I don't want to hear that song no more
Then I learned the treacherous end
You were with my best friend
Ain't got no class ain't got no respect
My broken heart will never mend
Little things remind me of you
Cheap cologne and that damn song too
Don't put another dime in the jukebox
I don't want to hear that song no more
Don't put another dime in the jukebox
I don't want to hear that song no more
Don't want to hear that song no more No! No!

The song Jukebox is about heartbreak and betrayal. The singer sees their ex-lover with someone else in a pizza place, and it devastates them. The little things like cheap cologne and a specific song remind them of the past relationship. The betrayal deepens when they learn that their ex was with their best friend. The pain and hurt are too much for the singer, and they don't want to hear that particular song anymore. They plead with the audience not to put another dime in the jukebox because they don't want to be reminded of the betrayal and heartbreak.
The chorus, "Don't put another dime in the jukebox, I don't want to hear that song no more," is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the singer's pain and their desire to move on. The last lines of the song reiterate this, "Don't put another dime in the jukebox, I don't want to hear that song no more."
The song is relatable to anyone who has experienced heartbreak and betrayal. The lyrics and the melody capture the emotions of the singer perfectly, making the song a classic dance hit.
