Rootsie Roots
The Green Lyrics

She always kick it up at the corner store
She don't wait for anyone anymore
Always cool, when she step out the door
She's the one you want when the rain come pour
She no go for, fancy clothes or them cars
You'll never find her in them diso bars
She is the fire when you need some more
Rootsie Roots and a puff she puff
Nuff she Loots and a rough she rough
Rootsie Roots and a puff she puff
I don't want her to know that I love her so
VERSE 2:
She always got the roots on the radio
She always grow the ganja outside her door
Her skin is smooth like a golden crème
She comes on me in my sweetest dreams
She don't gotta go to my school anymore
She come to me leaving her tricks at the door
Her dreadlocks roll down onto the floor
She my empress I'm her emperor
The Green's song "Rootsie Roots" describes a woman who is confident, independent, and rooted in her culture. She is not impressed by material possessions or societal norms, but instead values her connection to nature and spiritual beliefs. When others may be seeking out fancier things, she is content with the simple pleasures of life. She provides strength and comfort to those around her, particularly during difficult times. The singer of the song is clearly in love with her, but fears expressing his feelings openly.
The lyrics paint a picture of a woman who is unapologetically herself, embracing her Rastafarian beliefs and the lifestyle that comes with it. She enjoys the simple pleasures of life such as smoking marijuana and listening to roots reggae music, while also being in tune with her spirituality. She is confident and self-assured, with a smooth and golden complexion. The singer is enamored with her, appreciating her strength and beauty, but is also cautious about expressing his feelings for her.
