Never
The Green Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I feel the pressure
Life on top my shoulders
But I know it's okay
In the morning when I rise
Till the moon is in the sky
It's up twenty four hours a day

And sometimes it gets hard
Just to listen to my heart
'Cause my mind plays tricks on me
On me and I'm

Never, never gonna give up
Never ever ever gonna
Give up on you
No, I'm never ever ever gonna give up
Never ever ever gonna
Give up on you

I hear everyday, about people wanting to unify
With kau inoa aloha
Always on different sides
How the hell are we ever gonna unify

I got an idea about you come over to my house
And I'll tell you what's going
On the top of my couch
I will let you see that there's only gonna be
One fucked up nation if we keep on fighting

You gather all your friends
We are gonna try and do this again
We gonna steal back the Hawaiian nation
And we'll never stop until the end
And I'm

Never, never gonna give up
Never ever ever gonna
Give up on you
No, I'm never ever ever gonna give up
Never ever ever gonna
Give up on you
No, I'm never ever ever gonna give up
Never ever ever gonna
Give up on you
No, I'm never ever ever gonna give up
Never ever ever gonna
Give up on you

I say no way
I say no why
I say no way
That I'm ever giving up on you
No way
I say no why
I say no way
That I'm ever giving up on you
No way
I say no why
I say no way
That I'm ever giving up on you
No way
I say no why
I say no way
That I'm ever giving up on you
No way
I say no why
I say no way
That I'm ever giving up on you
No way
I say no why

I say no way
That I'm ever giving up on you

Overall Meaning

The Green’s song Never is an anthem for perseverance and hope in the face of adversity. The lyrics convey a sense of determination, as the singer talks about the pressure he feels in his life but assures himself that everything will be okay. The recurring line β€œNever, never gonna give up” emphasizes this resilience and commitment to staying strong.

The second verse touches on the need for unity, specifically in regards to the Hawaiian people. The singer acknowledges the difficulty of achieving unity when everyone seems to be on such different sides, but suggests the key may be in personal connections and conversations. He invites someone over to talk about their shared goals, noting that if they continue to fight amongst themselves, they’ll never achieve anything.

The song ends with an emphatic repetition of β€œNo way” and β€œI say no why” as the singer reiterates his determination to never give up on the people he cares about. The simplicity and repetition of the lyrics serve to reinforce the message of hope and perseverance at the song’s core.

Overall, Never is a song about the importance of resilience and unity in the face of adversity. The Green’s powerful vocals and memorable chorus make this song an uplifting and empowering anthem for anyone struggling to stay strong in difficult times.

Was listening to this song when cops pulled me over and my blood alcohol came at 0.27. WTF can I say? I was wasted and it was a great song. I blame the song lol. I come back to this for the great memories. I only know this song was bumping in my mustang because it recorded in my dash camera, otherwise I would have no clue.
