the sad saga of the boy and the bee
The Gun Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Flower, flower...
There was a little bee, who wanted to be free,
But he was very sad, because he had to die.
The story goes as said, once a bee has stung he's dead.
But there's one thing bees all want, was to die in a flower bed.

Flower, flower...
There was a little boy, the bee came down to sting.
He caught him in a jar, the bee known what this would mean.
The boy was going home, to put an end to him.
He wanted his revenge, for stinging him.

Flower, flower...
On his journey home, he trips upon a stone.
The jar fell to the ground, the glass laid all around.
The bee was free to fly, to the place where he would die.
But suddenly fell down dead, upon a flower bed.

Flower, flower...

Overall Meaning

The Sad Saga of the Boy and the Bee by The Gun is a poignant story of a little bee who yearns for freedom and the sweet release of death amidst the beauty of a flower bed. The opening lines of the song set the melancholic tone with the repetition of "Flower, flower..." which serves as a melancholic refrain throughout the song. The first verse describes the bee's sadness knowing that his inevitable death awaits him after he stings someone. The lyrics suggest that bees would rather die in the peaceful embrace of a flower bed, which acts as a metaphor for life and death.

The second verse introduces the character of the little boy who captures the bee in a jar after it had stung him. The boy intends to harm the bee as an act of revenge. His harsh actions reflect the darker aspects of human nature, and the lyrics suggest that the bee and the boy act as symbols for life and death, innocence and guilt. As the boy carries the jar of the bee home, he trips and falls, releasing the bee. The bee is finally free, but its freedom is short-lived as it falls dead onto a flower bed. Through the poignant story of the boy and the bee, The Gun explores life's fleeting nature while delicately expressing the ideals of freedom and dying with dignity.

@@deadfiero wow is that really you? and 1 day ago too, that is great

Really hoping you read this man, cuz it would be awesome if a member of this band could get my thoughts on Gun and Gunsight

I don't really know how I came across them but it was about 7 years ago (I'm 26) or something and I really liked it, it's been in my library since then but I stopped listening to them maybe 3 years ago or something

Just this week I randomly decided to give Angeline a listen because it had been going around my head for a few days, and that decision has led me to 4 days in a row of listening to the entire Gunsight album lol I've gone through it at least 6 times in these 4 days

Tonight I felt like giving "that other album of Gun I have in my library" a try. When reading the track list I noticed this song and it instantly came to me: it used to be one of my favorites, so I search for the song to listen in good quality and I find a comment of the actual Paul Gurvitz one day ago, much wow

ANYWAY Gunsight is majestic and Gun not so much but it's awesome too. Long hair wildman is also one of my favourites but I can't seem to find the lyrics =( I get most of it though so it's ok

Thank you for these great albums, I have yet to listen to 3 man army carefully but Gun r000000000xxx

If you are an imposter you got me good, but here are my thoughts if the real guys ever see this x)

Greeting from Mexico!

When I was  boy, my Grandfather from WW-One, gave me this vinyl album. Thanks Man .

@ivanivan2709

good story, sad it's not true. a person born in the late 19th century (after all, he is a WW1 veteran) would definitely not listen to this kind of music - a person from another era

@ivanivan2709

how old are you if your "grandfather" was a WW1 veteran? 70-80?

@blaneycrabbe3390

@@ivanivan2709 That makes about 62 !

I looked up GUN band on a whim and found this scottish rock band from the late 80s and they are pretty good. But holy crap, another band called gun and it's great!

@meenos3

Still have this album and l still play it.The lead guitar style was new in 1967/8 Hendrix started the fuz box and it led to a new style of sound and playing.Was a good band in its day that felt the pulse of underground music at that time.
