Tiebreaker
The Head and the Heart Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hit me with your eyes and we'll compromise, and
We've been tryna fix two people who don't need fixing
It's a tiebreaker, hands are tied, baby
Throwing up just like the fourth of July, baby

And longer we go, the better
The chances we'll lose forever
It's a tiebreaker, hands are tied, baby
Rather keep you in my life as you are, baby

I'm letting go of the reasons
History keeps repeating
Took me so long to see it
I know you know I'm trying

I can't believe I almost went my whole life
Without you in it, without you in it
And you're missing out, I'm missing you
I can't believe I almost went my whole life
Without you in it, without you in it
And you're missing out, I'm missing you

And you're missing out, I'm missing you

You've unleashed a part of me, that thought ain't lost on me
I wouldn't be here without your honesty
And when I'm singing I just disco the weekend
Don't need to panic, I won't let go, you need it
Trust and follow me, put it all on me
I'll take you places if you just learn to follow me
And when you're dancing, you see stars on the ceiling
Nothing can turn down all those feelings you're feeling

You think you know who I am
The story that you keep on buying
Can't blame myself for breaking
These cracks will let the light in

I can't believe I almost went my whole life
Without you in it, without you in it
And you're missing out, I'm missing you
I can't believe I almost went my whole life
Without you in it, without you in it
And you're missing out, I'm missing you

Lean into the light, come out of the dark
Your last night over, keep starting
Lean into the light, come out of the dark
Lean into the light, come out of the dark
Forget what they say, it's all in your heart
Lean into the light, come out of the dark

I can't believe I almost went my whole life
Without you in it, without you in it
And you're missing out, I'm missing you
I can't believe I almost went my whole life

Without you in it, without you in it
And you're missing out, I'm missing you

Overall Meaning

In "Tiebreaker" by The Head and the Heart, the lyrics portray the struggle of a relationship that is caught in a constant cycle of trying to fix things that may not even need fixing. The title itself refers to a tiebreaker, indicating that the relationship is at a crossroads where a decision needs to be made. The line "Hit me with your eyes and we'll compromise" suggests that both parties are willing to make compromises, but it may not be enough to truly resolve their issues.

The chorus emphasizes the feeling of uncertainty and being stuck, as the hands are tied metaphorically. The line "Throwing up just like the fourth of July" suggests that the turmoil and tension in the relationship is explosive and intense, similar to fireworks on Independence Day.

The verses express a realization of the need to let go of past patterns and the willingness to try something different. The lyrics acknowledge the role of history in repeating mistakes and the difficulty of breaking free from that cycle. However, the singer is determined to make a change and sees the potential for growth in the relationship.

@@proudma10 I’m so torn between Conrad or Jeremiah for Belly! If Conrad could just stop being so moody…!

@proudma10

@susanfabrican2244  I've always felt like Jeremiah was the one for her since season 1. I get how she felt for Conrad but hate how he treated her then felt sorry for him when I realized that he was acting out because he was hurting. Then he broke Belly's heart and showed his true colors. Jeremiah has been real with her the whole time and always got her back even after she broke his heart. I could see them being happy together. It all sucks because I feel bad for Conrad too.
