Mirror’s Image
The Horrors Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Is it her way
Is it the way she looks at you
Seeing her face
As you walk through the crowded avenue
That sets you afire
Remembering all you left behind
Don't fall back in line
Better you let her memory die

Draw strength
Walk on into the night
Better you try to pass her by
Walk on into the night

Is it too late

Or are you forever in this state of crippling shyness
Whenever you see her walking by

Overall Meaning

The Horrors’s song Mirror’s Image is a reflective song that speaks about the struggle one faces when they cannot move on from a past lover. The lyrics convey a contemplative tone that encourages the singer to let go of the memories that have plagued them and move on with their life. The first two lines pose a question, "Is it her way, is it the way she looks at you?" which suggests that the singer is addressing someone who is still captivated by their past lover's behaviour and appearance even though she might not be interested in them anymore.

As the song progresses, the singer implores the singer to let the memories of their past love die away and muster the courage to walk away from their memories. He warns against falling back into the old patterns and encourages a new path that should not involve this person anymore. In the lines, "Draw strength, Walk on into the night," he advocates the need to move forward in life without the baggage of the past.

In conclusion, the song Mirror’s Image is a profound reflection on the challenge of moving on from someone who has left a deep impression in one's heart. The song encourages people to be strong and move on with life while also reminding them that the memories of their past shouldn't be the reason for their stagnation.

I don't know about you all, but this song for me is pure perfection. The Horrors have a lot of very good songs but this one is one of their best <3 I love it because it has so much raw feelings to it.
