Morning Sunshine
The Idle Race Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Wait 'til the morning sunshine
Wait 'til the morning sunshine
Feels like another day, I wouldn't know
My love's away, from home today

Wait 'til the morning sunshine
Wait 'til the morning sunshine
It's just the memory, of sunshine
In the morning, being close to me

And it was.....

Wait 'til the morning sunshine
Wait 'til the morning sunshine
Seems like the world is late, for I can't wait
For sunshine in the morning

Wait 'til the morning sunshine
Wait 'til the morning sunshine

Overall Meaning

The Idle Race's Morning Sunshine is a vivid yet melancholic song that depicts longing and loneliness. The lyrics repeat a phrase over and over again: "Wait 'til the morning sunshine." It seems that the singer is eagerly waiting for the sunrise, hoping that it will bring some relief from the pain of being alone. The repetitive nature of the song adds to the sense of monotony that the singer is feeling. The sunrise represents a glimmer of hope to the singer, a chance to reconnect with his loved one who is away. The line "It's just the memory, of sunshine in the morning, being close to me" seems especially poignant, as it highlights the fact that the singer is living in the past, clinging to memories that have long faded away.

The song has a dream-like quality to it, with its soft melody and hypnotic rhythm. The singer's voice is tender and wistful, perfectly capturing the mood of the lyrics. The song is a perfect example of the psychedelic pop that was prevalent in the late 60s, with its hazy atmosphere and ambiguous lyrics.

Such great psychedelic pop, this has become one of my favorite albums, I love exploring late 60's psychedelic rock and pop. The Move, Idle Race, Blossom Toes, Bee Gees, The Millenium, The Lemon Pipers, Blue Magoos, there is just not shortage of amazing bands that released incredible music during this period that keep blowing my mind with how good they are and yet unfortunately seemingly forgotten by most people these days unless they are a bit older or lived during that period.

Some composers and performers need only two minutes...

@skillracoonful

That was quite typical of music before the 70s. Songs were no more than 2 minutes sometimes the longest they would ever do was 3 minutes and 15 seconds.
