Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brough to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And Auld Lang Syne

For Auld Lang Syne my dear for Auld Lang Syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet for Auld Lang Syne
And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp
And surely I'll be mine
And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For Auld Lang Syne

For Auld Lang Syne my dear for Auld Lang Syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet for Auld Lang Syne

We twa hae run about the braes
Frae morning sun till dine
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin' Auld Lang Syne

For Auld Lang Syne my dear for Auld Lang Syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet for Auld Lang Syne

And there's a hand my trusty fiere
And gie's a hand o' thine
And we'll tak a right gude-willie waught
For Auld Lang Syne

For Auld Lang Syne my dear for Auld Lang Syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet for Auld Lang Syne

For Auld Lang Syne my dear for Auld Lang Syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet for Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And the days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll drink a cup of kindness yet
For the sake of auld lang syne
And surely you will buy your cup
And surely I'll buy mine!
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
For the sake of auld lang syne
We two have paddled in the stream
From morning sun till night
The seas between us Lord and swell
Since the days of auld lang syne
For old acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should old acquaintance be forgot
For the sake of auld lang syne?
For old acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should old acquaintance be forgot
In the days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll drink a cup of kindness yet
For the sake of auld lang syne

HNT

Times Gone By - English version:

Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And days of long ago!

For times gone by, my dear
For times gone by,
We will take a cup of kindness yet
For times gone by.

We two have run about the hillsides
And pulled the daisies fine,
But we have wandered many a weary foot
For times gone by.

We two have paddled (waded) in the stream
From noon until dinner time,
But seas between us broad have roared
Since times gone by.

And there is a hand, my trusty friend,
And give us a hand of yours,
And we will take a goodwill drink (of ale)
For times gone by!

And surely you will pay for your pint,
And surely I will pay for mine!
And we will take a cup of kindness yet
For times gone by!

This might be the best rendition of Auld Lang Syne i have ever heard

The Politicrat

It’s a good one, but nothing can too Dougie Maclean’s.

marcelodeboca1

@The Politicrat The Maclean's version, is only a good accoustic. Nothing to compare with this.

The Politicrat

@marcelodeboca1 It depends on the mood. McClean’s has something to it that just makes it so...reminiscent. I quite literally feel nostalgic whenever I hear it, in general.

Especially about pre-Covid (even though I’d heard the song many times before that)

The Politicrat

@marcelodeboca1 (see you’re a member of the lodge btw)

I am Mexican and I love this song without reason, I just heard a different version in a department store and I found a lot of versions, this one sounds very Irish, I am not sure about the meaning of the title in English, well I speak Spanish, I know English but not so much anyway merry Christmas to everybody who reads this message and says hi to me.. BTW I see this song is for new year but I think it's sad and happy new year everybody .. I pray for the end of this pandemic and one day to know Ireland.

I'm Mexican too and I love this song also it's a good catchy song yes sad but catchy and good lol this year is particularly been difficult for me and my family because my mom passed away the end of May so I somewhat feel like I am leaving her behind with the year or something like that just we can into this year with her and we are leaving this year without her it's sad. Anyway happy new year 2022 🥂

I'm Irish and I say to you my Mexican friend and everyone else happy new year.
