Although blinded by eye cancer at the tender age of one, Jeff picked up his first guitar when he was three years-old and defied the odds and became a gifted and successful artist. He developed his own unique style of playing the guitar while it lay flat on his lap. Jeff quickly became a local guitar legend in his own right with his virtuosity. The group played around small Toronto-area clubs for a few years before eventually signing with BMG Canada and Arista Records for the rest of the world, and releasing their debut album See The Light in 1988, which featured the top charting hits "Angel Eyes" and "See The Light".
The Jeff Healey Band played and recorded Blues/Blues Rock-infused music along with many original-flavored covers. The band officially released five studio albums and one live recording including the sophomore Hell To Pay (1990), Feel This (1992), Cover To Cover (1995), Get Me Some (2000), and Live At Montreux 1999 (2005). There have also been some recent unofficial compilation releases without the consent of the artists.
Jeff and his band also performed a cameo role in the Patrick Swayze movie "Roadhouse" and they are featured in its official soundtrack.
The group split up in the late 2000, but Jeff continued performing as a solo artist and would later front Jeff Healey & The Jazz Wizards playing trumpet. He died on March 2, 2008 after a long battle with lung cancer, and is survived by his wife, Cristie, and two children.

Can't sleep at night
Call on your telephone
Something just ain't right
That's evil, evil is going on wrong
I want to warn you brother
You better watch your happy home
Knock on the front door
Run 'round to the back
You'll catch him just before he goes
That's evil, evil is going on
I have warned you brother
You better watch your happy home
If you call on the telephone
And she answers long and slow
Grab the first thing smoking
And you have to haul her home
That's evil, evil is going on wrong
I have warned you brother
You better watch your happy home

The lyrics describe a feeling of unease, as if something evil is lurking around every corner. The opening lines, "It's a long way from home, can't sleep at night, call on your telephone, something just ain't right," paint a picture of someone who is troubled and searching for answers. The lyrics suggest that this evil force can infiltrate even the most sacred of places - one's home - and cause irreparable damage to one's relationships and sense of security.
The song offers practical advice to listeners on how to protect themselves from this evil, warning them to be vigilant and watchful in their surroundings. The line, "You make it to your house, knock on the front door, run 'round to the back, you'll catch him just before he goes," suggests that caution and action are necessary to prevent the evil from taking hold. The lyrics also suggest that this malevolent force can affect personal relationships, warning listeners to be wary of people who answer the phone slowly and to take action if they suspect their partner is being unfaithful.
Overall, the song's lyrics are a call to arms against the malevolent forces that can damage our personal lives and sense of wellbeing. It urges listeners to be watchful, alert and to take action to protect themselves and their loved ones from harm.
