While My Guitar Gently Weeps
The Jeff Healey Band Lyrics

When I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
But still my guitar gently weeps

I don't know why nobody told you how to unfold your love
And I don't know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you

And I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
From every mistake we must surely be learning
Yes, but still my guitar gently weeps (hey-hey)

I don't know why you were diverted
You were perverted too
And I don't know how you were inverted
No one alerted you (hey, don't know you know)

When I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
And when I look at you all
Yes, but still my guitar gently weeps (oh, no-no)

Yeah, the guitar gently weeps
Oh, it weeps, oh, it weeps, oh

And it's weeping, oh (oh-oh)

Keep on, keep on

Jeff Healey was a gift from God to the rest of us mortals showing us how a Man can accomplish so much even when he is faced with tremendous adversity and physical challenges. God Bless the beautiful legacy and music created by this Wonderful human being.

I’ve played guitar for 2/3rds of my life and what Jeff does is completely unconventional inso far as his playing style. It’s completely unique.
No one fingers these chords in the way that he does, and it’s completely obvious that he learned to play this song by ear (what other choice did he have) and that’s not a bad thing. He clearly was a musical genius.

Jeff was blind since age 1 and started playing at age 3. When you are blind it is much easier when something is right in front of you. Sort of like reading braille. You just have better control and orientation. Which is probably why there are a lot more blind keyboardist than there are blind guitarist. Either way that is the way he learned it since he was blind beforehand, it would have been more difficult if he had learned the usual way first and then losing sight.
