Although blinded by eye cancer at the tender age of one, Jeff picked up his first guitar when he was three years-old and defied the odds and became a gifted and successful artist. He developed his own unique style of playing the guitar while it lay flat on his lap. Jeff quickly became a local guitar legend in his own right with his virtuosity. The group played around small Toronto-area clubs for a few years before eventually signing with BMG Canada and Arista Records for the rest of the world, and releasing their debut album See The Light in 1988, which featured the top charting hits "Angel Eyes" and "See The Light".
The Jeff Healey Band played and recorded Blues/Blues Rock-infused music along with many original-flavored covers. The band officially released five studio albums and one live recording including the sophomore Hell To Pay (1990), Feel This (1992), Cover To Cover (1995), Get Me Some (2000), and Live At Montreux 1999 (2005). There have also been some recent unofficial compilation releases without the consent of the artists.
Jeff and his band also performed a cameo role in the Patrick Swayze movie "Roadhouse" and they are featured in its official soundtrack.
The group split up in the late 2000, but Jeff continued performing as a solo artist and would later front Jeff Healey & The Jazz Wizards playing trumpet. He died on March 2, 2008 after a long battle with lung cancer, and is survived by his wife, Cristie, and two children.

They're maybe not as bad as they seem
'Cause in a world full of misery, with hatred and greed
Your problems are another man's dream
Now when your own little world seems to be in a state
And you think you may be losin' your mind
Just remember the people who only can wait
And you know, problems come and problems go
This is something you should know
There's people in the world today
Who don't have nothin' but hell to pay
Now when your life of success has got you livin' in doubt
And you're feeling like there's nowhere to turn
Just remember the world that you don't know about
And all the lessons that you can learn
'Cause you know, problems come and problems go
This is something you should know
There's people in the world today
Who don't have nothin' but hell to pay
Some people today
Got hell to pay
That's what they got
And tomorrow
Or yesterday
They got hell to pay
All right
'Cause you know, problems come and problems go
This is something you should know
There's people in the world today
Who don't have nothin' but hell to pay
Well, when you think you got problems you don't really need
They're maybe not as bad as they seem
'Cause in a world full of misery, from hatred and greed
Your problems are another man's dream
And you know, problems come and problems go
This is something you should know
There's people in the world today
Who don't have nothin' but hell to pay
The Jeff Healey Band's "Hell to Pay" is a song that conveys the message that problems can always be worse, and that people who are struggling should remember that there are others who are worse off. The lyrics serve as a reminder that in a world filled with misery, hatred, and greed, one person's problems may be insignificant when compared to what someone else is going through. The song starts by stating that when we think we have problems, they may not be as bad as they seem. This is because, in reality, there are people in the world who have it much worse.
The song then goes on to explain that even when we feel like we are losing our minds and things are out of control, we should remember that there are those who will never find happiness. The chorus echoes this sentiment, stating that problems come and go, but some people have nothing but "hell to pay." The song finishes by restating the main message: our problems might not be as significant as we think they are.
The message of the song is one that is relatable to almost anyone. We can all find ourselves getting caught up in our problems without realizing that others may have it much worse. The Jeff Healey Band's "Hell to Pay" serves as a reminder to stay humble, recognize the good in our lives, and not take anything for granted.
