The main vocalists of the group were Debbie Allen, Valerie Landsburg, Erica Gimpel, Carlo Imperato, Gene Anthony Ray, Lee Curreri, Lori Singer and P.R. Paul. Another vocalist, Irene Cara, did not appear in the TV series but sang the "Fame" theme song and played Coco in the original motion picture. The song catapulted Irene Cara to stardom. It won an Academy Award for Best Original Song, a Golden Globe Award, and was a UK number one.
The US television series was originally produced between 1982 and 1987 and was based on the 1980 motion picture of the same name. Using a mixture of drama and music, it followed the lives of the students and faculty at the New York City High School for the Performing Arts. Although fictional, it was based heavily on the actual Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York. Most interior scenes were filmed in Hollywood, California. In Seasons 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 the show filmed several exterior scenes on location in New York City.
In 2012 a campaign was launched to get the complete Kids From Fame back catalogue released on CD https://www.facebook.com/GetTheKidsFromFameOnCd and in 2013 Cherry Pop Records http://www.cherryred.co.uk/cherrypop.asp sought to license 'Fame' albums, despite previously unsuccessful attempts.

Shady Sadie, serving lady
Don't pay her no mind, no
She'll take every dime
She's got a one-a-day lunch
Good for all the bunch, yeah
Hot lunch, yeah
Macaroni and baloney
Tuna fish, our favorite dish
Hot lunch, hey
If it's yellow, then it's jello
If it's blue it could be stew oo, oo
She's got a one-a-day lunch
Good for all the bunch
Hey, now
Hot, hot lunch
Oh, oh, no
Yeah

This is exactly why ART is so important in schools across the nation. Music, singing, painting, sculpting, dance, photography, the list goes on and on. Spontaneous creation giving rise to pure life!

@Driving into the desert until the petrol runs out Also handy for those who have a talent for singing , playing and writing music or dancing , but perhaps might not be that academic or good at sport or what are called the ' core ' subjects .

Movies like these among others are what inspired me to be the musician I am today, and now I teach music in public schools!

I just watched the original Fame a few days ago and had forgotten how pure her voices was. The lunch room scene was one of my favorite scenes in the movie. RIP to one of the most beautiful women the world has ever seen, Irene Cara. Fly with the angels my sister.
