When discussing the move to America many of the previous members were unable to leave prior commitments in New Zealand, and major line-up changes resulted. The current line-up consists of Mark Millard (vocals), Tim Smith (guitars) and Steve King (drums). They have released a total of eight albums in their 15 year history, two of which won Gospel Album of the Year at the NZ Music Awards (Marvel and The Lads). They performed at every Parachute Music Festival from 1993-2005, earning them a cult status among many fans.
2. The Lads were a Bedford, MA indie group. The Lads played a tight skillful new wave oriented sound coupled with power pop influences. Island
The Lads Lyrics

Far from all my cares
Not really a place more
In my heart somewhere
When I look into Your eyes
I feel peace around me
A river of life flows
Through my emptiness
When I look into Your eyes
You take me away into Your grace
Deep in the light and life I'm lead
You give me peace, give me rest
To have You with me is all that I need
The rush of Your flooding spins me 'round
Your hope will lift me off the ground
The Lads' "Island" depicts the feeling of being taken away by the presence of someone who provides comfort, security, and a sense of home. The lyrics describe the feeling of escaping to an island that exists within one's heart, where one finds peace, comfort, and relief from worries. The island could refer to a place of refuge or a state of mind that is achieved through the presence of someone who provides security, such as God or a loved one.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the power of the subject's gaze on the singer. When the singer looks into the eyes of the subject, he/she feels a sense of peace and tranquility, as if being washed clean by a soft rain. Additionally, the subject's presence is described as a river of life that flows through the singer's emptiness, indicating that being around the subject fills a void within the singer.
The lyrics further underscore the importance of the subject's company, as the singer claims to be led to light and life by the subject's presence. The singer suggests that the only thing he/she needs is to have the subject with him/her, and that the subject's hope has the power to lift the singer off the ground. Overall, "Island" is an ode to the power of companionship and the solace that comes from being in the presence of someone who provides comfort and hope.
