Darling
The Legends Lyrics

The two of us should have understood,
with open eyes it was not that good
Baby, there were times
I wished you would fall away from me
It's not the way things ought to be
Why didn't stay here for another day
It's so silent since you've gone
Why didn't you tell me I was doing wrong
It's a sign of the times that I've loved
Darling, hear me out
The two of us could be understood
So give it time, we'll be pretty good
Baby,
Don't you want you with me all the time
It doesn't mean that you're not mine
(Chorus)
If I tried to read between the lines
And you know I will
Will there be signs, really obvious ones
That I can't understand
In return, can I expect to find you
(Chorus)
The Legends' song Darling is about a dysfunctional relationship. The song reflects on the signs and red flags the couple ignored or overlooked, leading to the demise of their relationship. There were times when the singer wished the other person would leave them, which is not an ideal relationship. Additionally, the singer admits to their mistakes and takes responsibility for doing wrong. They wonder if they could have saved their relationship if the other person had stayed a little longer.
The lyrics are emotional, and the vocals are melancholic, creating a somber mood. The song is a reminder that relationships are not always perfect, and sometimes people ignore warning signs, which leads to heartbreak. The chorus of the song is particularly powerful, emphasizing the pain of losing someone you love and questioning the decisions made in the past.
