@Austin Becht You're probably right about Rumble being banned But I was in the crowd at Vinnie's Cafe on 11th St in D.C.
one night long ago when Link announced that Jack The Ripper had been banned in the above mentioned places. Now,
that was over 50 years ago and I imagine I was pretty juiced, but I clearly recall Link making that statement.

When I was a kid in the 70's I thought this was a part of the Rockabilly scene of the late 1950's-1960's era mixed with garage band surf sounds.
It was also something I saw alot of at the drive in theatres as a kid up in Toronto, Ontario , Canada in the early 70's as we watched the old biker movies from the late 60's and a couple of new ones in the early 70's.
The bikers would show up to a town and the teenagers and people in their 20's - 30's were hanging out in the malt shop and playing this on the Juke Box.
A good example were those Beach Blanket Bingo movies with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funacello that we all watched in the summer time.

Recorded in 1961! This was badass electric guitar, black leather jacket, & switch blade Rock 'n Roll! This was not the bland nicey nice kind of radio play stuff that might later get you into the Rock 'n Roll hall of fame. This was from the underground scene, that perhaps you didn't want your daughter to be hanging around with! Power chords! Bikers forcing you to play one of your earlier electric guitar instrumentals over and over! Power chord king, Pete Townshend, has said that if he hadn't heard Link Wray, he probably would have never picked up the guitar!

Link played out of the DC area in the 1950's & 60's. He sold a lot of guitars gto the kids in the area who foiund that most of his hits were pretty easy to play. A genuine original. His brother, Ray Vernon, had some local hits as a vocalist, but never acheieved the status of his brother.Other brother Doug played drums in the Raymen (or Wraymen, I was never quite sure).

The Glen Oaks Mercury in California.
The thing had a raised front end no front bumper or grill.
A Ford truck transmission and rear end with 4:11 gears.
