The Mods's song "ゴキゲンRADIO" portrays a moment in the everyday life of a person who finds comfort in his radio, with the city around him full of chaos and noise. The lyrics start with describing the noise of sirens and commotion outside his window, but instead of getting bothered by it, he turns up his radio and listens to the upbeat music. The lyrics then describe the scenes of young men and women having their arguments, breakups and drama, which he is not interested in knowing, as he continues to listen to his radio. Even when his teacher lectures him about the importance of studying, he ignores it and keeps on listening to his radio. The lyrics conclude with the chorus that repeats the line "ゴキゲンRADIO" over and over again, emphasizing how much he values his radio and the positive energy it brings in his daily life.
The song reflects the carefree and rebellious spirit of youth in Japan in the 1980s-1990s, a time of economic growth and cultural changes. The lyrics capture the frustration and alienation that some young people felt in that era, seeking solace in music and entertainment as a way to escape and challenge the constraints of society. The song's catchy melody and simple lyrics also make it a classic example of J-Pop, a genre that emerged in the 1970s and became popular worldwide in the following decades.
